I know that Christmas is almost officially over (it's been a busy day) but I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas!
And if you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope you a fantastic day regardless!

I spent my day with the 3 f's: family, friends, and food.
Mostly food though...

No but honestly, this Christmas was extra special and I had a great day.
The holiday season is one of the best times of the year.

How did you spend Christmas day?
Do anything fun?  Go anywhere exotic?
(I know a few people who go on vacation during this time of year, & I'm super jealous)

Hope you had a good day filled with all the things that make you happy, because that's what its all about.

Happy internet-ing,

College Christmas Decorations

Well it's officially December, which only means one thing...
Christmas is less than one month away!!!!

Last night, my roommates and I wanted to take a break from studying (with finals in a couple of weeks, we have been studying constantly).

The following pictures are our attempt at making a festive apartment.  At least what we could do with our limited resources as college students.

Some fake flowers in a wine bottle = classy.

This is a cover for the air conditioner and we think it looks ugly, so we made it into a make-shift fireplace and hung some stocking from it - one for each of us!

Our tv stand has a nice string of cardboard Christmas trees, a fake tree, candles, and an incomplete nativity scene.  Doesn't surprise me at all.

A whiteboard that we hung random ornaments with push pins

And last but definitely not least, our mini Christmas tree complete with lights and fake snow!!
It makes me so happy.  I love christmastime.
Not very fancy, but for college students, I think it is perfect :)
What is your favorite thing about this time of year?

Happy internet-ing!

Giving Thanks | Happy Thanksgiving

Well it's that time of year again
A time to give thanks for everything in your life
(and eat ungodly amounts of food. TURKEY)

I thought I would take some time to give thanks for things that I am thankful for

1. My family and friends obviously have to be number one.  Wouldn't be who I am today without those crazy people in my life (I say crazy but in the most loving way possible)

2. I am thankful for the amazing opportunity to be able to attend college.  As much as I complain about all the stress and homework, I am honestly so grateful that I am able to have a great education.(Do your homework, kids!)

3. My health.  I am so thankful that I am healthy, have good teeth, and 20/20 vision.  I know that many people don't have the luxury of being healthy.  I have always taken my health for granted but recently I realized how fragile life and to be thankful for the life you have been given.

I am grateful for so many things that if I listed them all of this post would be really long, so I'll spare you that (you're welcome ;]) , so anyways yeah life's good, make the most of everyday, be yourself, yeah yeah other life advice.

What are you most thankful for?
Let me know!

The Future

I'm just going to say it: The future is scary.

A lot has happened in the past couple of weeks and it makes me feel very uneasy about the future.
Sometimes I wish that I had someone tell me what I am supposed to do, like in one of the dystopian movies where we all have our place in the world and we do what we are told.

I suppose in a sense the fact that that doesn't happen is very nice because then we have the choice to be who ever we want to be.  But half the struggle is finding out who that person is.  A doctor? An artist? A entrepreneur? There are so many things that you can be in this world.
I think one of the things that I struggle with is because there are so many options in life, I often find myself pulled in so many different directions with who I want to be.  I want to be a creator, I want to be successful, I want to make my family proud of me.  People often say "Oh you're only in college, you have plenty of time to find yourself there!!"
Yeah, sure.
If anything, college has made me more confused.
They practically force us into deciding who we want to be at 18 and then throw us into the real world without a second glance.
It's absolutely terrifying.
I often find that I can't sleep or concentrate because I'm thinking about the unknown of the future.
As of now, I'm just going through the motions.
Ugh. I don't know if this made any sense.
Has anyone else ever felt this/are feeling this too?

I know that everything will be okay but sometimes it just doesn't feel like it.
Ya feel? (haha.)

Take care, everyone.

It's October
And I like a lot of things

Bath and Body Works Autumn candle

If you put harbor the smells of Autumn, it would smell like this.  Hints of apple, cinnamon, pumpkin, and of course fall air.  I burn this candle quite often to make my house smell AMAZING.  I get so many compliments! :]

Way Better Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips

I was looking for a healthy alternative to potato chips and when I saw this in Target I put it in my shopping cart immediately.  The ingredients include: Organic sweet potatoes, corn, sprouted chia seeds, quinoa, and sea salt.  That's it.  Amazing!  Gluten free and full of vitamins and minerals.
Tasty AND healthy-best of both worlds!

This next one is a bit lame but

I just picked these bad boys up because I was looking for multiple colors to organize my notes and To-Do list.  There are so many colors included, from black to hot pink, there's a color for you! (They last a long time too!)

What is something you've been loving?
Let me know!

Sunday Sounds #3

You know what that means....
Here are some songs:

Bad Things Meiko

Wicked Games The Weeknd

Young Blood Birdy

Monday, October 13, 2014

I need to get this off my chest:
Honestly, how can you not love dogs?

They just bring so much joy into my life, with their little wagging tails, wet tongues, and boundless energy.
They truly are the best companions, and I often find myself having a very one-sided conversation with them(but that's okay because they make for good listeners)
A lot of the times, I would much rather prefer the company of a dog than a person.

I miss having a dog around now that I'm at college.
Whenever we go into town and I see someone with a dog, I have to physically restrain myself to not pet the dog/steal the dog.
I also get a bit sad when I see people with their dogs because it makes me miss my dog, who passed about 2 months from cancer.  (What I would do to have her back...)

RIP Libby.
Miss you everyday <3

Sunday Sounds #2

Another Sunday
Another Sunday Sounds
(best day of the week tbh)
Here's some songs I've been listening to non-stop:

Can't Stop by One Republic

Eye of the Needle by Sia

Red Hands by Walk off the Earth

Friday, October 10, 2014

(That was me releasing all my built up stress)

Sometimes life is just too much to handle and the stress makes you go insane.
This week has been one of those weeks.

Between piles upon piles of school work, working, friends, family, and deciding what I want to do with my life (NBD...), I find myself staying up late at night, unable to think about anything but these things.  I'm getting stretched thin.
I think, no I NEED a vacation ASAP.

What are some good ways to deal with stress?
Any ideas would be wonderful!

Don't worry about me though, I'm fine.
Everyone gets stressed at points in their life.
Just remember that it will get better...
Or at least that's what I keep telling myself...

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

So as a college student, I don't really have that much money to go around buying spontaneous/ unnecessary items, but I think it's important to treat oneself from time to time.(or at least that's what I tell myself to justify the purchases...)
So that's what I decided to do: SPLURGE.

Here are some my recent splurges that I may or may not regret buying in the near future:

Lovely color and makes my skin glow.  I think it was a good purchase!

I needed new headphones and I thought instead of buying more pairs of my regular $19.99 in-ear headphones, I would maybe just splurge on getting a really nice pair that will last me a long time.  So far so good!

Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner
Because I have curly hair, I find it very difficult to find products that actually work on my hair.  I have heard so many good things about the Ouidad product line and decided to give it a chance.  It's quite pricey for the size of the bottle, but I think it's been well worth it.

Have you splurged on something recently?
Let me know!

Changing of the Seasons

Looking out the window, it is currently very overcast, and starting to drizzle.
(I heard that it might actually snow tonight... :'[ )
I am currently sat in my living room with a sweatshirt, sweatpants, fuzzy socks, and 2 blankets and I am STILL cold.
This is just making me realize that while summer is officially over, winter is almost on the horizon.
I want to have an Autumn- with the colorful trees, pumpkin spice drinks, warm clothes, pumpkin carving, apple cinnamon smells, Halloween!!

As much as I can't wait for Christmas, I am just not ready for the long, horrible winter that I know is fast approaching.

I guess I'll have to enjoy what little Autumn we are getting now,
but first I'm going to make a chai tea( YUM 😋)

What is your favorite thing about Autumn?

Guilty Pleasures #1

Yes...guilty pleasures numero 1.
I have many guilty pleasures in life(& who doesn't tbh) but one of them that I have been absolutely loving lately is -wait for it- HGTV shows.
Thrilling, I know right??

(If you don't know, HGTV is a home improvement channel where all the shows involve interior designing, buying and selling houses, and everything involved with that.)

I don't even know why but I can spend hours upon hours watching TV

You have no idea how much of my life I have spent mindlessly watching home improvement shows.

I think my favorites that I have been completely obsessed with recently are:

1. Property Brothers

A set of twin brothers host this show about showing someone that renovating a fixer-upper within your budget is more economical than buying a move-in ready house.
(Funnily enough, I am actually watching this show right now! haha.)

2. House Hunters/ House Hunters International

A classic favorite of mine. This show shows home buyers three homes within or outside of their budget/wish this and then they have to pick which one they like.  I especially like the 'international' version because it is often in cool exotic locations where I could only dream of living.

3. Love It or List It

A relatively new obsession - a realtor and a designer fight over home owners allegiance.  The realtor shows new homes they could move into and the designer renovates their current home to make them stay- will they Love it or will they List it??? ;]

So yeah...I have been watching too much TV lately oh boy...

But you know, sometimes you need those days where you don't want to think about responsibilities of life.
( At least that's what I keep telling myself)

Hope you're having a good day!

This has been on my mind for a really long time.
I know that I do not express my gratefulness all the time and I often find myself complaining about the stupidest things( #firstworldproblems is basically me).

But why?

I realize now that I have so much to be grateful for: family, friends, my health, a roof over my head and food on my table, the opportunity to go to a university, and so many other things.
I have to say I have it pretty good compared to a good majority of other people.

I feel kind of disappointed in myself that I take advantage of things that people would absolutely love to be able to have.
It's something that I really need to work on that's for sure:
Being more grateful for the amazing life and opportunities I've been given.

So take a moment out of your day to think of a couple things that you are grateful for.

What are you grateful for?

With much gratefulness,

Online Shopping: An Addiction

I may or may not have an addiction...

an addiction to (wait for it) : ONLINE SHOPPING
(I know I am as much ashamed of myself as you are of me)

I find myself searching many online stores, from clothes to home-wares to beauty, you name it.
It begins innocently, as I just scroll down through all the products, but then I see IT.
IT being a beautiful dress, the newest lip stick, or a a cute little mug for my hot chocolate (which I have way too many of-Thanks to online shopping of course!)

Thus, is the beginning of the end.

2 hours later- I find myself looking at my basket to 'check out', look at the total (EEEK) and shudder.
I find that I rarely walk out without spending $100...each shopping trip.

Oh boy.

I need to stop for both mine and my wallet's sanity.

Let me just cry.

I don't even NEED any of the stuff!  Why do I do this??

Are any of you addicted to shopping as much as I am?
(Pls tell me so I feel better about myself.) (LOL JK...mostly)

Anyways I'm going to go...definitely not online shopping..... HAhaha.ha ha *cry*

Happy internet-ing!

I would be lying if I didn't say homework sucks.
I have been in school for a total of a week and I am already drowning in homework:
Projects, presentations, discussions, papers, you name it.

This is what I'll be doing for the next couple of months

I hope you guys are surviving.
I know you will! :]

What classes are you taking right now? Let me know!!

Lots of love,

Well, August is gone and past...
where has the time gone??

Here are some things I discovered and became obsessed with in August:

1. Chia seeds

I had heard so much talk about this magical seed and decided to try it, mainly for it's nutritional   benefits.  Now I heard that these seeds make you seem full, and as a result eat less; I actually found this to be true, as I put a spoonful into my yogurt and granola and I find that later in the day I'm not as hungry.  Pretty neat, right? As they don't really have a flavor, you can put them in pretty much anything from muffins and yogurt to smoothies and salads.
FUN FACT: These chia seeds are more widely known as being the seeds for Chia Pets!
2. Angie's Boom Chicka Pop Salted Caramel Popcorn

YUM. YUM. YUM.  At only 80 calories/cup of popcorn, this stuff will make you so happy.  Tastes amazing without the added guilt of eating too many calories.  I would also highly recommend that you check out the other varieties of Angie's Boom Chicka Pop because they are equally delicious.

3. Parks and Recreation TV show

I had heard about this before from family and friends, and had seen a lot of pictures/gifs of it on the internet, so when I saw it on Netflix I just had to.  It has that quirky sense of humor similar to shows like The Office but I find it very charming and the characters are very loveable.

Just a snapshop of what I've been loving this August!
But what about you? Let me know and maybe I will become obsessed with it in September...Who knows...

Happy-internet-ing, friends!

Back To School!

Well it's that time of year again....
Back to school!!
I'm not sure if I should happy or sad.  I think I'm mainly excited because I have so many things to look forward to this year: Living in my own house with my closest friends, a new major, and general adult things like resume-building and career workshops. WOO.

I hope wherever you are, that you have a great school year! Just do your best, and remember that everything you do in school isn't that important in the future.  You can do it, I believe in you!

Lots of love xxxx

A Sad Day

This is Libby.
My beautiful, wonderful, sometimes annoying, always loving companion for about 10 years.
She has reached that age where they have lived a long life but yet selfishly, we as humans don't want them to leave us.
I had occasionally thought about what it would be like without Libby, but then I got sad and pushed it to the back of my mind.

4 days ago, Libby started throwing up everywhere and started going downhill very quickly.  The vet is coming over tomorrow to look at her and I'm(*fingers crossed*) hoping for good news.

All of this happening really got me thinking about life and about death, and especially about the things that mean a lot to me.  Like most pet owners(I hope) love their pets unconditionally, as do I to Libby.  I guess I have always taken her presence for granted and got mad when she annoyed me, jumped on the table, or tried to steal food off my plate- I know this will sound odd but these are some of the things that I will miss the most. Much more than you know.
I will also miss how she greeted me at the door when I came home like I was the best thing to happen to her; how excited she got when she was getting a treat or going for a walk; and how she was always there for me to talk to( which sounds weird but pets are very good listeners) and watch movies with and sit in the sun with and share the couch with....

Pets have that strange effect on humans that is just so magical and beautiful, and they bring so much joy to everything. Pets are just the best.

(I'm sorry this was not a regular post that I do but I wanted to write about this, as I find writing very therapeutic.)

Well, I hope the news is good for Libby tomorrow!
And if you have a pet, go give them a hug. I'm sure they will love it and you will too.

Happy internet-ing, peeps!

Rainy Days

There has been a series of cold, rainy days where I live.  On one hand I kind of dislike it as it is supposed to be summer, but on the other hand it gives me an excuse to lay in bed all day.

Whilst laying in bed, I generally surf the internet and online shop(blog post soon!) for hours on end.  I also use it as an excuse to curl up on the couch with a drink and watch movies.  I'm one of those people who buys a movie and watches it about 5,000 times in a row before watching anything else.  One of those movies that I have recently gotten is 'The Lego Movie'.  What an amazing movie!  I genuinely enjoyed it; full of laughs for all ages, and the music is quite catchy and will be stuck in your head ALL day........ (Everything is awesommmmeeee).

I also use rainy days to catch up on books that I have been wanting to read.  This time I have selected a favorite of mine: The Maze Runner
I know that the movie is coming out soon(September 19th to be exact!) and I wanted to remember all the details of the story.  If you haven't already, I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mystery, adventure, thrilling suspense, and action.  I love all of these in a story. (BTW if you have any book suggestions, let me know! I really want to read more books.)

As you can see, it is a well-loved book who has been on many adventures with me.

What do you like to do on rainy days??

Happy internet-ing!

PHEW...July has gone and passed in a blink of an eye.
I can't believe how quickly it went...only a couple more weeks until I start my junior year of college.(exciting/terrifying)

This month has been a bit of a blur for me simply because I felt like I was always busy.
Lets see what I did this month, shall we:

1. WORK. omg the place I work wants to kill me I swear. They have me working too much and it's sometimes really hard because I am constantly on my feet and moving quickly.(can't wait to be done!)

2. Buying last minute things for my apartment/general things I want.  I have recently become OBSESSED with online shopping. I think I have a bit of an addiction(I might do a blog post about it soon).  I have gotten school supplies, clothes/shoes, beauty products, books, desk organizers, various furniture items, and kitchen supplies. WOO I feel so old.

And last but not least:
3. Going to the movie theater to watch (no spoiler) movies.  In July I have seen Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Guardian's of the Galaxy, Earth to Echo, How to Train Your Dragon, and probably more that I forgot about.  It's nice to have a sister who works at the theater( #freemovies).

That's what I've been up too this month!
What about you? Done anything fun? I hope so! :]

Happy internet-ing, peeps!

A Peak at: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

It's a movie about monkeys who had basically taken over the world and humankind is on the brink of extinction.  Should be interesting, right?
Well, I loved it.
I generally love movies where humans are fighting for their survival from some cause or another, actiony, intense fighting, thrilling nail-biter movie, and this movie had it all.
If you are unfamiliar with this series( and without giving too much away), it's about an ape testing experiment gone wrong and the apes get intelligent and pretty much take over the world.
Although maybe not completely necessary, I would highly recommend that you watch the first movie: Rise of the Planet of the Apes first to get the back story and see how it all lead up to this moment.

Overall, one of my favorite movies I've seen this summer!

What other good movies have you seen this summer? Let me know.

Happy internet-ing!

Why is college so expensive??

Hey everyone!
So as summer is already half way over (*silently crys*), I have decided to be at least somewhat proactive in my back to school shopping, so I'm not rushing out to get everything last minute...
The first( and most expensive) thing on my list: TEXTBOOKS.
If you've never had to buy your own textbooks before, you don't understand the sheer shock of the price tag as you click "Check-out" at the online bookstore.
Literally buying my required school textbooks is reason why I go broke towards the end of summer.  That and clothes shopping...oops.

This upcoming semester, I "required" 7 textbooks. (I say "required" because in the past there were instances where I didn't even use the "required textbooks. UGH.)

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND , if possible, to look for your textbooks places other than your college's school store.  There, you generally pay full retail price for a brand new book.
If you don't want to cry when looking at your bank account, here are some websites that I recommend you check out:

All of these websites are pretty similar.  You can search new/used textbooks as well as rent them(if, for instance you only need it for one semester and not worth it to buy).  You are also able to sell your books back after you are done with them, which is really nice.
I hope that this helped!
I might be doing more college money saving/tip giving things in the future. hmm..yes??

Happy internet-ing, friends!

Wanderlust #1

Hey everyone!
I have been doing a lot of thinking recently and I have concluded that I really really want to travel.  To see the world.  My Wanderlust is out of control. So i have decided that I might start a feature on this blog about traveling and cool places that I want to visit.  Does that sound like a good idea?
What are you favorite places to travel too?
Let me know! :]

See you soon lovelies! X

Summer Bucket List!

As it's officially summer break for me(and soon for many people), I thought I would make a list of all the things that I want to try this summer(the key word is 'try', who knows if it will actually happen haha)

1. Learn a new language.  I took 4 years of French in high school but that's it and I think it would be really beneficial and awesome to be bilingual.  Maybe Japanese or Italian...we'll see

2. Get better at drawing.  I have always been addicted to doodling on random scrap pieces of paper and homework assignments.  I also find drawing very soothing and therapeutic.  It would great if I could actually get better at it.

3.  Pamper myself.  This probably sounds stupid but I don't get to spend time for myself all that often.  Maybe a pedicure or a new hair-do :]

4. Learn to crochet.  I already know how to knit and I heard crocheting is not that difficult and you only need one needle!  I would like to make a scarf and a baby blanket for a friend's baby.

5. Try new food and drinks.  Again probably stupid but I don't often go outside my comfort zone taste palette (if that makes any sense haha) so I would like to try new new dishes!  First stop: sushi and then curry.  (My friends have been dying for me to try these as it's their favorites)

Here's just a snippet of what I'LL be doing this summer, more to come of course :]  Hopefully I can tick off at least a couple on this list!

Do you have any cool or special things you are planning for this summer??
Let me know down in the comments.

Until next time  x

How to survive finals week!

As the weather gets warmer, this only means one thing:
Finals week is quickly approaching... dun dun DUN!

Whether this is your first experience of the dreaded college finals week or you are a super senior who is a pro at this, here are some tips from my experience that MIGHT help you survive (no promises tho):

1. DON'T, WHATEVER YOU DO, put things off to the last minute.
You will definitely regret this.  The procrastination is not worth the extra stress and lack of sleep.

2. Speaking of that, just turn off your internet connections all together
that way you won't even be tempted to surf
Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, and other popular sites.
(which to be honest we all use waaaaayyy too much haha)

3. Be healthy.
Get enough sleep, eat healthy foods, and get exercise.
I think the last thing that you want to do is get sick during finals week.

4. Ask for help. If you don't understand, talk to your professors.  They'll be more than happy to help; that's what they're there for.  Also, form study groups with friends.  It makes learning a lot easier and that way your not learning it all on your own.

5. And last but most importantly, Find some time for yourself.  You've worked very hard this semester, you deserve to treat yourself, whether a Starbuck's drink or an episode of your favorite TV show.

Know that the stress is only for a little while, and that you will survive...(hopefully haha)
Best of luck to you!
I'm going to go study for finals now...

I can't believe March is over!
Where has all the time gone?!?  Seems like it was just Valentine's Day yesterday.

Since March has been quite eventful, I thought I would share my March Favorites :)

  • Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner Blackest-black

This stuff is amazing.  And very inexpensive.  Definitely adds that little extra POP to your eyes.  Makes doing the cat-eye' a piece of cake :)

  • Brookside Dark Chocolate Pomegranate

Yum Yum Yum.  This is so good.  If you are looking for a delicious treat to satisfy your sweet-tooth, you will absolutely love this.  What can go wrong with dark chocolate covered pomegranate?? :)

  • Minute maid Lemonade
I have been obsessed with this pink lemonade.  I just can't get enough.  My go-to summer drink by far.

  • Lush King of Skin
I have already raved about this, but you know, absolutely LOVE this stuff.  Can't get enough.  AMAZING.   It makes your skin soooooo soft and hydrated.  Just rub some on after a shower and your skin will feel like a baby's bottom( in a good way!)  If you haven't already, get this stuff!

  • Maze Runner by James Dashner

If you liked the Hunger Games and other Dystopian novels, you will LOVE this one.  I read this book a while ago, but once I heard they were making it into a movie I had to re-read it.  Enjoyed the book, hope the movie does it justice.  Will be in theaters this September.
Here's the trailer
What were some things that you loves this March?
I would love to here them!
    Until next time
