Back To School!

Well it's that time of year again....
Back to school!!
I'm not sure if I should happy or sad.  I think I'm mainly excited because I have so many things to look forward to this year: Living in my own house with my closest friends, a new major, and general adult things like resume-building and career workshops. WOO.

I hope wherever you are, that you have a great school year! Just do your best, and remember that everything you do in school isn't that important in the future.  You can do it, I believe in you!

Lots of love xxxx

A Fresh Start

Hello Everyone!

I have been doing this blog for a couple of months now and I don't think I ever really properly introduced myself, so I'm going to hit you with some facts( I bet you are SO excited...) :

Hi, my name is Emily.
My birthday is Feb 6th, 1994, and so I am currently 20 years.
I live in St. Paul, Minnesota.
I am going to be a junior in college this year(EXCITING).
I am currently majoring in biology, but too be honest I have no idea what I want to do with my life so this could very well change.
I have a dog(Libby) and a cat(Linkey) who I love very much.
I have only had two jobs in my life- one at a vet clinic, and one at a grocery store(both terrible but I made some really great friends)
I am a quite shy person when I meet new people, but once I get to know you a bit more I am VERY comfortable around people.
I am a massive nerd/geek! whatever you want to call it.  I love everything from video games, sci-fy, Lord of the Rings, Mario Kart, Star Trek, science, math, and pretty much anything else I would probably enjoy.  I just love it so much!!
Although I wouldn't consider myself vain or selfish, I do enjoy making sure my skin/body/hair is healthy and clean- I think good hygiene is so important nowadays!

Tell me some facts about you!

Here's to a fresh start! Cheers X

A Sad Day

This is Libby.
My beautiful, wonderful, sometimes annoying, always loving companion for about 10 years.
She has reached that age where they have lived a long life but yet selfishly, we as humans don't want them to leave us.
I had occasionally thought about what it would be like without Libby, but then I got sad and pushed it to the back of my mind.

4 days ago, Libby started throwing up everywhere and started going downhill very quickly.  The vet is coming over tomorrow to look at her and I'm(*fingers crossed*) hoping for good news.

All of this happening really got me thinking about life and about death, and especially about the things that mean a lot to me.  Like most pet owners(I hope) love their pets unconditionally, as do I to Libby.  I guess I have always taken her presence for granted and got mad when she annoyed me, jumped on the table, or tried to steal food off my plate- I know this will sound odd but these are some of the things that I will miss the most. Much more than you know.
I will also miss how she greeted me at the door when I came home like I was the best thing to happen to her; how excited she got when she was getting a treat or going for a walk; and how she was always there for me to talk to( which sounds weird but pets are very good listeners) and watch movies with and sit in the sun with and share the couch with....

Pets have that strange effect on humans that is just so magical and beautiful, and they bring so much joy to everything. Pets are just the best.

(I'm sorry this was not a regular post that I do but I wanted to write about this, as I find writing very therapeutic.)

Well, I hope the news is good for Libby tomorrow!
And if you have a pet, go give them a hug. I'm sure they will love it and you will too.

Happy internet-ing, peeps!

Rainy Days

There has been a series of cold, rainy days where I live.  On one hand I kind of dislike it as it is supposed to be summer, but on the other hand it gives me an excuse to lay in bed all day.

Whilst laying in bed, I generally surf the internet and online shop(blog post soon!) for hours on end.  I also use it as an excuse to curl up on the couch with a drink and watch movies.  I'm one of those people who buys a movie and watches it about 5,000 times in a row before watching anything else.  One of those movies that I have recently gotten is 'The Lego Movie'.  What an amazing movie!  I genuinely enjoyed it; full of laughs for all ages, and the music is quite catchy and will be stuck in your head ALL day........ (Everything is awesommmmeeee).

I also use rainy days to catch up on books that I have been wanting to read.  This time I have selected a favorite of mine: The Maze Runner
I know that the movie is coming out soon(September 19th to be exact!) and I wanted to remember all the details of the story.  If you haven't already, I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mystery, adventure, thrilling suspense, and action.  I love all of these in a story. (BTW if you have any book suggestions, let me know! I really want to read more books.)

As you can see, it is a well-loved book who has been on many adventures with me.

What do you like to do on rainy days??

Happy internet-ing!

PHEW...July has gone and passed in a blink of an eye.
I can't believe how quickly it went...only a couple more weeks until I start my junior year of college.(exciting/terrifying)

This month has been a bit of a blur for me simply because I felt like I was always busy.
Lets see what I did this month, shall we:

1. WORK. omg the place I work wants to kill me I swear. They have me working too much and it's sometimes really hard because I am constantly on my feet and moving quickly.(can't wait to be done!)

2. Buying last minute things for my apartment/general things I want.  I have recently become OBSESSED with online shopping. I think I have a bit of an addiction(I might do a blog post about it soon).  I have gotten school supplies, clothes/shoes, beauty products, books, desk organizers, various furniture items, and kitchen supplies. WOO I feel so old.

And last but not least:
3. Going to the movie theater to watch (no spoiler) movies.  In July I have seen Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Guardian's of the Galaxy, Earth to Echo, How to Train Your Dragon, and probably more that I forgot about.  It's nice to have a sister who works at the theater( #freemovies).

That's what I've been up too this month!
What about you? Done anything fun? I hope so! :]

Happy internet-ing, peeps!

Clean Eating

Hey everyone!
So I have decided to make a huge change when it comes to my eating.
I have decided to try a vegan/gluten-free diet.

This isn't necessarily because of morals and animal rights issues.  It's mainly because I have been doing a lot of research about eating healthier and the best foods for you and they all seem to lead to the "raw" vegan/gluten free diet.  I have always been on the heavier side of weight, so I'm hoping with this new cleaner diet and a structured work-out plan I will be able to get fit and in the best shape of my life.  I want to do this for me, especially when I'm younger so I don't have a lot of weight-related health problems when I'm older.

I know it's not always going to be easy(and it won't kill me if I cheat once in a blue moon) but I think it's better for me in the long run.

Will keep you posted.

Any good recipe ideas?
