Favorite YouTube Music Channels

Hi friends!

If I haven't said it already, I really love listening to music.  Like a lot.  I think I use YouTube more than anything to find really cool songs.  Don't get me wrong, I have a special place in my heart for generic radio pop songs, but I think I prefer a more eclectic selection of music.  So in my many hours of using the internet/YouTube over the course of the years, I have found some amazing YouTube music channels that (IMHO) seem to play the best songs that fit any time of mood.  I also included an example of songs from each channel incase you were interested. :)

1. MrSuicideSheep
MrSuicideSheep has about 3.5 million subscribers and rightfully so.  I think the music is just amazing and I feel like I can just put all the songs on a playlist and listen to it all the time.  There is a wide variety of electronic and non-electronic music, so there is something for everyone.  (little secret: a lot of my Sunday Sound posts came from music from this channel.  The more ya know.)  But yeah, great music, love it.

2. MajesticCasual
With 2.7 million subscribers, MajesticCasual is another one of my favorite music channels on YouTube.  They have a mix of electronic music, experimental, deep house, indie, hip hop, pop, and more.  What a mix of genres!  I think that this is one reason why I like this channel is the variety of music because, I don't know about you, but I get sick of hearing the same music over and over again.  it's nice to be exposed to new music, because you never know what you like unless you test out the different water.

3. Aperion
A new find of mine, Aperion, with 40,000 subscribers, has become a place to find good music as well.  I would describe it as more indie, electronic, experimental type music (which I am alllll about!)

I hope you like these channels as much as I do - I have found some of my favorite songs from these channels!
If you have any favorite music channels on YouTube, or even your favorite songs, let me know because I am always looking for new music to listen to and love.

That's all from me this week, I hope you all have a fantastic day and I will see you here next time!

Good Eats || Uncle Loui's Cafe

Hi friends!

I am a sucker for good food.  But who isn't to be honest!  My mom and dad came up to Duluth for the day and we decided we wanted some good, and I mean goooood, breakfast food.  I asked around and heard about Uncle Loui's Cafe in Downtown Duluth.

It is a small mom-and-pop cafe which I think made it even more special.
I also didn't realize how busy it would be.  The line went outside of the building and down the street.  I guess that it is a good indicator of how good the food is!
They had sooooo many choices for food!  From stuffed french toast and pancakes to omlettes.  I love breakfast food so much.
I decided to get the classic hashbrowns with eggs on top.  So good.  I just want to eat breakfast for every meal.

If you are ever in Duluth and are in the mood for good breakfast food, I highly recommend Uncle Loui's Cafe!

Hi friends!
So I literally just realized that I hit 100 blog posts, on my last blog post, which I feel like is quite a milestone!  It's been about 2 years since I started this blogging journey and I have enjoyed every minute of it.  I think that it is really nice to be able to express my thoughts and feelings and everything else on the internet and share it with other cool people.  That is one amazing thing about the power of the internet.  I feel like I finally have a voice, which has been really transformational for me as a person.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for being here with me on this journey and letting me become a part of your life.  I could not be more grateful.

To many, many more,

Hi friends!

Here's a new video for ya!

Happy Thanksgiving! *eats all the food*

Yummy Treats | Grandma's Bakery

Hi friends!

Since I have come home for the weekend, we decided that we should go have some fun. And by fun, I mean eat yummy food.  We headed over to the locally famous Grandma's Bakery
They have so many sweet treats: from cakes to donuts to cookies to bread.  All of the treats.

As you can see below, we opted for the "French Silk Pie Cupcake".  So that's an amazing thing that happened.  And yes, it was just as delicious as it sounded.

It was discovered that as soon as you bit into it, it contained a delicious french silk pie chocolate filling.  *drool*

So that was our fun adventure are Grandma's Bakery!
If you are ever in White Bear Lake, make sure to drop by and try some of their treat!

Talk to you soon,

Thanksgiving Break

Hi friends!

Today I am headed home for Thanksgiving break - WOOOOO!  I am so excited.  I need this.  Honestly, school is just draining me so much this semester and I need a good break from everything school related.  I am so excited to go home and see my family, eat my mom's cooking, and doing nothing.  Absolutely nothing.  I can't believe Christmas is almost here already, I am SO EXCITED. *clenches fist in excitement*

Anyways, I need to desperately finish packing because I am not even close to be finished...

Talk to you soon,

ALBUM REVIEW | Purpose - Justin Bieber

Hey friends!
Today I am going to discuss THIS:
Justin Bieber - Purpose

I have been very VERY excited for this album, ever since he started releasing songs, from What Do You Mean? and most recently, Sorry (which I have been obsessed with).
Now before I begin about the album, I have to say that I have never really been into Justin Bieber's music.  I mean, yes, his music was catchy, but it was a bit TOO pop-y for my tastes.  Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about the album.

I got Purpose (Deluxe) so it came with 19 songs, and before I talk more I just wanted to say that I am really loving this Justin Bieber.  I know that he has gotten a bad rap because of past things he's done, but I think he is trying to turn himself around and pour himself into his music.  Which I think is awesome. The music on Purpose is the music that I genuinely like to listen to, so well done Bieber!
One of the things that I enjoyed about this album (that might annoy some) is that there is a wide variety of types of songs: there are some cool beat songs as well as some slow, meaningful songs.  These definitely highlight Justin's voice in a very positive way.  He has a great voice!  There are also guest appearances such as Big Sean, Travi$ Scott, Halsey(WOO!!), and Skrillex and Diplo.  Very cool - I am happy to see these and I think they work well with each of the songs they are featured in.

A couple of my favorite songs:  Sorry, Purpose, Children, The Feeling

Overall, I am very excited about this album and it will be on repeat until I know all the lyrics haha!

Have you listened to Purpose yet?  What do you think?

A New Hobby??

So I was cleaning my room the other day, and I found a watercolor palette (like one of those ones that are on your first grade school supplies list, so not too fancy haha).  So exciting!!  I immediately had to make something.  To be honest, I probably spent way too much time making this, but ya know it was fun!

(p.s. I looked at a picture online, I don't actually know how to do watercolor this well!)

Towards the end, the watercolors started to merge and blend together, hence why there is a giant brown blob on the hummingbird's wing.
But overall, I am pretty dang pleased with it.  And myself.  I should do this more often. :)

What are your favorite hobbies?  Let me know!!

Until next time,

I hope you enjoy and have a great weekend!!

A Day at Canal Park

Yesterday was my school's Mid-semester break, so we got the day off (which was super awesome!).  But since it actually wasn't freezing/raining out for once, my friends and I decided that it would be fun to get some fresh air.  We decided to go to Canal Park, which is a well-known place to go in Duluth.  Canal Park is definitely a tourist destination in the summer, but now that it is getting colder, it was completely abandoned except for the occasional jogger.  There is a lake walk on the shore of Lake Superior, which is always a useful for a nice stroll.  And even though it wasn't super sunny, it was the perfect temperature where all you need is a light jacket.

Overall, I had such a nice day off from school and I feel very relaxed from taking a long walk with this beaut view!

Girls Day

After a long week of classes, my friend, Kassidy, and I decided that we should do something fun to celebrate making it through another week.  Since Kassidy has an interview next week (*crosses fingers*), she really wanted to get her nails done.  Looking at the state of my fingernails *yikes*, I agreed.  We ended up going to this little nail shop called Diamond Nails in Duluth by the mall.  I had never realized it was there before but it was very nice on the inside. Very cute, and clean, and had a giant TV on the wall that played an endless Netflix-marathon of some HGTV show. YAS.
As you can tell from the picture, it was very busy (and is apparently busy all the time), I was glad we made an appointment!
I decided that since I have never had acrylics before, I would do a gel manicure because it is supposed to last longer than regular nail polish.  And besides, they always do SUCH a better job than me; whenever I paint my own nails, it always look like I poured the polish directly onto my nails. A MESS.
Oooohh Look at all the colors!

I decided to go with a nice bright coral-orange color.  And a silver accent nail because why not.  I was feeling very spontaneous.  So crazy.

The lady who did my nails was so lovely and she really cleaned up my nails to make them look nice.  I am very happy with them.
I am so jealous of Kassidy's nails.  They are like, my aesthetic.  I am obsessed with them.  She got a black matte nail with shiny black tips.  I think that I am going to get that done the next time I get my nails done!

Overall, I had such a fun time!  Sometimes, it's nice to just relax and not worry about homework or anything and just pamper yourself.  At least that's what I like to tell myself.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I will see you next week!

**Also, quick note, if you look over on the right sidebar, there are links to my Twitter, Instagram, and tumblr, as well as linked in the "Contact" tab.  I am pretty much always on those sites, so if you fancy a chat, hit me up on there!**

Yesterday, I spent a good portion of my day baking some cupcakes because...well do I need to reason to make cupcakes?!  Anyways, as I don't have very many baking supplies to make homemade goods, I decided that a store bought box-mix and frosting would suffice, and of course it would be delicious no matter what.

Because it is October and Halloween is nearly upon us (EXCITING), I had to get everything Halloween-themed!  SO without further ado, here is my baking adventure: are my completely decorated cupcakes, with cream cheese frosting and ghost-shaped sprinkles. HOW CUTE.

They tasted AHHH-mazing (lol Halloween pun) and I had a fun time making them!

Until next time,

College Homecoming

Hello my lovely internet friends!
How are you today? You doing well?!  I certainly hope so.
What about me? Well thanks for asking!!  This past weekend was my college's homecoming.  Which is even more crazy because it's my LAST homecoming as a student.  INSANE. Where did the time go?!  My parents came up for the day, which was nice because I haven't seen them in a couple of weeks.  We started off the day by going to the parade.  Now...not to be a downer, but the parade was..kind of...a let down because it was literally only 5 minutes long with a total of 4 floats.  But that's fine because it was fun to see everyone in such a good, festive-y mood.  It really puts me in a celebratory mood!
Here is my school mascot (a St. Bernard) waving at all the parade watchers

After that was a whole bunch of pre-game festivities, mainly including tailgating, which was so delicious - everything from hamburgers to pasta salad!  The football game started at 4:30 pm.  It was such a nice day out - not too hot, not too cold, just enough, all you need is a light jacket (extra points if you get this reference ;) )  By half-time, we were winning 45-0. Amazing. And at the end, we won 53-13 (or something like that).

Overall, I had a very fun, last homecoming ever!  I hope to remember days like this in the future because it makes me realize how lucky I am to be able to attend such a wonderful school.

Until next time,

Saturday, September 26, 2015

It was a very gloomy day outside today, with lots of fog.  I woke up and made some coffee.  We have a Keurig machine that is amazing for making single serve cups of coffee.  I, of course, added my mocha creamer to it.  LOVE IT.  I also decided to make myself a breakfast wrap which included: eggs, onions, spinach, peppers, and cheese all mixed together in a fry pan and served in a whole wheat tortilla. YUM.

I spent the beginning of my day doing homework (as you do) and studying for my exams for next week.  Oh yeah at this time we had made plans to celebrate because my good friend has just gotten into PA(physician assistant) school, which is amazing! (#soproud) We decided to go see The Scorch Trials (which was pretty good), and go to Perkins.  At Perkins, I got an omelet, hashbrowns, and a muffin that I was keeping for breakfast the next day.  Breakfast food 4eva!  My friend got french toast made out of brioche bread and it looked so good!  I ate until I was stuffed.

We came back to the house and just sat around talking for a while before we all headed to bed.  I forgot how nice it is to just sit down and chat with my bestest pals, without worrying about anything like homework or other non-exciting life things.  It's great. I should do it more often. :)

So that was my Saturday!  Pretty exciting I know right. What did you do today?  Let me know!!!

Until next time,

RIP Linkey :(

This was always my favorite picture of Linkey.

It is with great sadness that I am writing this today.  I got a text from my Mom this morning that said that my beloved cat Linkey passed away last night.  We got him when he was an adult cat so we are not exactly sure how old he was, but we guessed he was about 18 years old.  So he had a long life.  A loving life.  I will miss our cuddles on the couch, and your incessant meow-ing for food.

You were put through a lot with me and my sister, but yet you always were such a nice cat.

And while I am very sad, I know that he is no longer in pain.

RIP Linkey.  You will be very missed. <3

(Go pet your animals.)
Lots of love,

Well....the time has finally come:  I am going to be a senior...IN COLLEGE.  WOW.
I honestly never imagined this day coming because I always told myself that I had a lot of time to figure out what I wanted to do after I graduate, and now that I start school on Tuesday, I have quite  bit of pressure to find something that I would like to do.  To be honest (and I've never told anyone this before), I would absolutely LOVE to do this(blog and make videos) for a living.  I think that it is a really unique way to express your thoughts and be creative in the process (which I have always wanted to do!)  Who knows!!  I just don't want to settle for a job and hate every second of it and be stuck doing it for the rest of my life.  I don't know haha does anyone else feel this intense pressure as well?  It can be very nerve wracking.

Other than the obvious pressure of figuring out post-college plans, I am excited to get to see friends, make new friends and new memories.  It should be a year of fun! and also learning of course ;)
Can't wait to take you on this adventure with you.
& if you are starting school soon like me, GOOD LUCK!! You can do it! We're all in this together *resists temptation to sing High School Music*
Here's to a great, amazing, fun, fantastic school year!

Until next time,

Minnesota State Fair 2015

(I don't know why I shouted that...)
So I recently went to the Minnesota State Fair.  If you've never been or never even heard of the MN State Fair, you are missing out!! No but for real, it is a 12 day fair leading up to Labor Day, and has one of the highest attendances of any fair in the US.  It is absolutely huge and so many things to do/see/eat.  (especially eat haha).  THERE IS SO MUCH FOOD TO EAT.  I thought I would take some pictures of my day so it's like you were there with me.  Sound like a good idea? Yeah? Yeah!

The day started off early. It was actually such a perfect day to go because it wasn't too sunny so it didn't get very hot (it was about 75 degrees!)  The mission for the day was to find the "Macaroni & Cheese Cupcake", which was a new food to the fair and my sister was making it her life goal to try one.  We got to the fair at about 8:30 am to beat all of the afternoon crowds.

Here is a view of the water tower with the logo on it.

After getting a quick breakfast sandwich and coffee from the French Meadow Bakery, we headed to the Green Energy building where you can learn about all things energy efficiency.  And there was also strange random cutouts to put your face in, so my sister and I did the classic "American Gothic" one (shown below).

We then headed over to the Giant Sing Along area, where we proceeded to sing "Celebration", "Uptown Funk", and "Shut Up and Dance with Me", and ate a funnel cake. YUM.
Around lunchtime, the crowds started to get bigger, which meant that we had to get food quickly before we would have to wait in line forever!

We headed to the Dairy Barn, which is famous for their malts, sundaes, and ice cream cones.  I got the strawberry malt and it was so freakin' delicious!!  The Dairy Barn also houses the butter sculpture heads. Yep, you read that right.  There are literally heads made out of butter on display.  The Princess Kay of the Milky Way, gets here head carved out of butter every year.  Only in the Mid-West haha!

The next stop is one of my favorite things to do and a must if you are going to the state fair: Sweet Martha's Cookies.  MMMMMMM Delicious.  Literally the best chocolate chip cookies EVER.  The lines for this place is always crazy busy but totally worth it!

After walking around for a bit, we decided to try and find the Mac & Cheese Cupcake.  We asked the information booth where we could find it and they told us that is was from Lulu's.  I had never been to Lulu's before, and their menu was definitely interesting and filled with foods I probably wouldn't ever eat haha.

WE FOUND IT.  This is what it looked like.  I'm not sure what I was expecting from a "Mac & Cheese Cupcake", but I don't think it was this.  It was basically baked mac&cheese on top of a bread crumb base, and that fake-cheese-from-a-can on top...interesting...

I happened to catch the perfect reaction from my sister of the cupcake.  Obviously loving it...JOKES, no it was kind of gross.  Definitely won't ever try that again.   We were very disappointed especially since it was $6!!!

I had to wash that horrible cupcake taste out of my mouth and it was getting a bit warm out, so I decided to get a blue raspberry snow cone!  Very good and refreshing!

The snow cone turned our tongues blue :P

After spending nearly 5 hours at the fair and the crowds, we decided it was time to go.  I was exhausted and could sleep for like 4 days straight.

Overall, I had a fun fair experience and even tried some new foods.
If you ever get the chance to go to the Minnesota State Fair, I highly recommend it!

Until next time,

A Morning of Thoughts

I had an idea to write down all my thoughts that I had in the morning and go back and see how much of a terrible morning person I am.  WHAT A FUN IDEA!!!!!1!!  It went something like this....

Unghp. What? Where I am?  What day is it?

OH NO.  I hope I'm not late!!!

*Checks phone and sees it's only 6 am*

Yay I can sleep for a little longer. zzzzzzz

Oh gawd, why is the sun blinding me in the face at 7 am?!

Oh no...I really have to pee but I don't want to get out of bed...

I should probably get out of bed.

To go to the gym or not to go to the gym?  That is the real question.

Ugh I should probably go to the gym or I am going to regret it.

Should I change my shirt?  *sniff* doesn't smell yet, I think I should be good!

Let me throw all of my crap into my bag.

Can't forget anything! *Checks for keys, phone, shoes, earphones*

I better double check to make sure I have everything. (Sometimes I TRIPLE check LOL)

Ok, I think I'm ready to go out into the real world.  dun Dun DUN.

And that is literally my thought process in the mornings.  Nothing too exciting haha but just lots of complaining ;)
What are some things you think of in the morning?
Let me know!

Until next time,

Sunday Sounds #8

It's been nearly 3 months since I last did a "Sunday Sounds"?!  That's crazy!! I need to pick up the game.  Anyways, I have been listening to a lot of music recently, so here are some new ones that I have literally been playing non-stop.  Literally.

1. Avalanche Walk the Moon
By the same guys who sang the amazing hit Shut Up and Dance, this song has a very throwback vibe to it, which I have been LOVING in songs recently.  Very summer-y.  I can definitely tell that Walk the Moon are going to become more and more popular and I can't wait to hear all of their music. (ps.  I actually thought this was The 1975 the first time I heard it!)

2. Shots Imagine Dragons
I have actually been obsessed with all Imagine Dragons songs, but when they're new album "Smoke and Mirrors" came out, I wasn't CRAZY about it...But after going to their concert a couple of weeks ago, I think I fell in love with it.  This is one that I find myself singing a long to in the grocery store like a crazy lady.  (But that's ok).

3. Beautiful Now Zedd
I'm actually a long time lover of Zedd's songs, particularly Clarity, which has been out for quite a while not.  His new album True Colors is amazing and I love what I've heard do far.  This is a song that I have been playing on repeat as well.  GOOD JOB, ZEDD.

What are some of your favorite songs that you have been enjoying recently?

Talk to you sooooooooonnnnnn!!

Five things I am trying very hard to accept

1. Your skin and body may never be perfect, and that's okay.  As long as you're happy.

2.  Life is too short to not buy that cute dress that makes you feel fabulous, that delicious cake, and the haircut that you have always wanted to try.  Maybe even try a new color! As long as you're happy.

3.  Everyone (including your family, co-workers, and even your best friend) will talk about you behind your back, and you will talk about people behind their back.  This doesn't mean that you love each other any less.  As long as you're happy.

4. It's okay to spend money on yourself every once and a while.  It's not a bad thing to treat yourself whether that be a spa day, getting your nails, buying something new, or even just reading a book.  As long as you're happy.

5. Sometimes without reasons, relationships will fall apart.  And that's life.  Some relationships are toxic for you and you are better off without it.  As long as you're happy.

As long as you're happy.

Love you guys,

This is important.

Daily reminder to make sure that you drink enough water.  Water is so so so important and you body needs it to function properly.  Not to mention, it helps keep your skin clear, your eyes moist, and your heart beating.

When my grandma was alive, towards the end she developed severe dementia (a form of alzheimer's) which makes her forget a lot of things.  Like faces, and names, and people.

My entire family put up pictures around her room of us drink water to remind her to do the same.  It is incredible how the human brain can forget how to do some of the simplest task, such as drinking water.  Please make sure, that if you have a loved one with alzheimer's, that they get enough fluids to stay hydrated.

Thank you for reading my little ramblings about something stupid but also something important to me.

Learning vs. Education

This is something that I have wanted to talk about for a very long time.

Get ready for some OPINIONS!!

As a college student, I just wanted to say how lucky I am to be able to go to a good college and just LEARN.  It is a privilege that I do not take lightly.  I realize that a lot of people don't have the opportunity/have other options beside going to college, and that's okay!  I just want to put this out there that you don't have to necessarily have to go to college to learn.  Our own experiences in life provide us with many opportunities to learn.  I love learning and I am a strong believer that we are continuously learning throughout our lives, and even when we are out of school, the learning never stops.

That being said, I wanted to address the idea of learning vs. education.  Learning and education are two very different things.  To put it simply, I think that the education system in this country is completely wrecked.  School should be a place where people want to go, a place that nurtures creativity and individuality, somewhere where people be excited to learn! But it's not.  Instead, it is a place that a vast majority of students absolutely dread to go to, along with forced standardized tests. They are rewarding people who do what they are told, at all costs.  Because they trick us into believing that if we follow rules, don't question authority, and do well on tests, we will be rewarded with success.  This may be true in some instances, but it is not an absolute.  I recently read a speech on the internet about this idea that really inspired me to think about all of this.  It is by Erica Goldson, a high school valedictorian a couple years back and I think it was really well said.  I will link the speech here! (Please take a look!)  Once I read this, I realized something...this was me.  I was a robot of the education system.  Instead of exploring hobbies that I had or utilizing my creativity, I spent all of my time studying, taking notes, doing extra credit that I didn't need!
I thought this picture summed of perfectly my feelings of the education system.

Not to say that this is necessarily bad, but this level of "robot"-anation (I'm just making up words now haha!) did nothing for me except for teaching me how to study for a test, only to forget what I had learned 2 days later to make room for the next test.  Is this what education has become?  If it is, I think we are in some serious trouble.

But, how can we fix it?  This is a serious question and I'm going to be honest, I haven't the slightest idea.  Maybe to start things off, stop putting so much pressure on kids to pass all of those stupid standardized exams!  They mean nothing and it only test how well you can take a test.  It is not a measure of your intelligence, it does not signify who you are. At all.  But that's the way it is set up.  Life is more than just being able to pass a test.

Okay.  Phewww.  I'm glad I got this off my chest.  I feel so much better now.

You are all creative, inspiring, caring, wonderfully talented individuals who are going to change the world.  I just know it.  Everybody better watch out :)  & Remember - never stop learning!

Em's Favorites | May

(I don't know why I shouted that but it's probably because I'm very excited to tell you about some things that I have been LOVING this month) (and other months too but don't tell anyone)

1. Bolthouse Farms Vanilla Chai Tea

Guys.  This stuff though.  I didn't think I would like it because I'm not a big fan of chai tea to begin with but when I took a trip to the store, I was looking for a new drink to try.  I was going to go for some kind of caffeine(because exhausted college student) but my eyes went to this one, and since I've been a bit WILD recently,  I impulsively bought it.  Wasn't expecting too much, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised!  It was freakin' delicious.  It sort of tastes like vanilla coffee creamer, but in a nice way (if that makes any sense whatsoever).  It has a very creamy taste that is similar to milk.  I will definitely by rebuying this product!

2. Lilac Blossom Mini Mason Jar Candle
Simply put, this candle smells AH-mazing!
Imagine you are standing in a lilac field and you bottle that air, condense it to make it into wax and put it into a mason.  This is what it would smell like. It is literally the best candle for this time of year because it reminds me of springtime. (Sidenote: my parents have a lilac bush in their backyard and this candle smells EXACTLY like a full-bloom lilac bush; which makes me super happy).

3. Impractical Jokers

A program on TruTV that has quickly received a special place in my heart.  The premise is simple: 4 friends(Joe, Sal, Murr, and Q) compete in hidden camera prank challenges. Whoever loses the most challenges in each episode must face a humiliation concocted by the other 3 guys.  I have found myself often crying from laughter from some of the challenges they had to do.  Legit TEARS coming from my eyes.  I can watch this show for hours and never get bored9That must say a lot, right?)

Wellllllll...those are some things that I have been obsessed with recently!  I'm going to go drink my chai tea, smell my lilac candle, and watch Impractical Jokers. :D

What are some things that you have been loving?

Things to do if you're feeling down

Heya everyone!

Ever feel like you are having a really crappy day, where nothing goes right and you just aren't feelin' it?  Yeah, me too.
Everyone has those down days.
If you are, here are some ideas of things to keep you busy on these types of days that you can't pull yourself out of.

1. take a shower
wash your hair, scrub your body, moisturize, do all the things that will make your feel clean and nice.

2. change your clothes
fresh underwear, clean pyjamas or sweatpants, or even nice clothes, whatever makes you happy

3. eat
this is actually so important.  even if it's just soup, bread, fruit, or pizza.  Although eating healthy is better for you, food is food and your body needs it to work properly.

4. drink
water is best to keep your body nourished, hydrated, and cleansed.  try to avoid alcohol, soft drinks, juice, and other sugary beverages.

5. go for a walk
it may feel difficult when you're feeling down, but exercise can really really help.  if you have a dog, take it for a walk.  or else, find a friend to go with, or if you prefer going by yourself to clear your head, that's okay too!

6. listen to music
music has such an amazing power to control your mood, so listen to something that makes you happy.  whether it's country music, classical music, bubblegum pop music, whatever your heart desires.  also sing along with the music, it's fun!  music can change everything.

7. read a book
watching tv shows is great, but nothing is better to keep you preoccupied than reading a good book.  there's nothing like it.  tip:  if you'r not into reading, try reading something that you have seen the movie, like Harry Potter.  Harry Potter is ALWAYS a good idea.

8. make a list
making a list of things can be a great way to keep organized and to get rid of unwanted stress.  i highly recommend that everyone makes lists for every aspect of your life.  it makes it a lot easier.

9. be good to yourself.
you are the only 'you' that you get, so take care of yourself.  You are beautiful, unique, talented, and worth it.  Your life matters.

Take care everyone,

REVIEW | Avengers: Age of Ultron

Yes.  I'm probably the last person to see this (college is my excuse), but I finally went to see this movie this past week.  As a big lover of everything Marvel, I had very high expectations for this sequel to the Avengers.  First of all, I do have to say that it was enjoyable.  There were lots of explosions and things like that - so if that's not exactly your thing I don't think you would like it as much.  I thought that all the action scenes were perfectly sequenced and the special effects were AMAZING!  I definitely think that everything looked really cool.

All main characters were there (i.e. Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow) with some new characters Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olson).  I actually thought that their accents were really funny at first but quickly got used to it.

Obviously a big part of the movie revolved around Ultron, who is the villain of this movie.  Without giving too much away, Ultron is the artificial intelligence creation of none other than Tony Stark.  He was created to help spread peace, but ends up wanting to destroy the world.  Casual.

I also really liked this movie because we got to see a little more behind the scenes of some characters, particularly Hawkeye.  It was cool to see a different side to him, and it just made him even more loveable as a character.  There was also budding romance between Natasha(Black Widow) and Bruce (Hulk).  This was kind of funny to me ( my sister hated it!) but overall it was cute and it definitely added to the plot.

I would also recommend seeing it more than once, if able?  Since it is over 2 hours, there is a LOT to absorb.  Seeing it more than once will allow you to pick up everything and to understand it.

Yes, there is a lot of action, some deaths, many building explosions, and plenty of humor that make it such an enjoyable film to watch.  I know it got some criticism because of flaws(i.e. not following comic books, too much fighting sequences) but personally, I found it to be the perfect amount of funny/action/fighting, and I don't really care too much about the comic book aspect...

I would give this movie a "Go see it for the action, and some humor, especially if you love Marvel movies" rating.  I am also thinking about seeing it in 3D soon, because I think it would look KILLER on a big movie screen in 3D.

Have you seen this movie yet?  What did you think of it?
Let me know!

See you soon,

Heya everyone!
I am officially done with school for the summer WOOOOOOOOO!
This also means that I am officially a SENIOR IN COLLEGE. 0.o That is crazy.  It is also crazy to think that this is my last summer break. ever. like EVER. In my entire life.  Once I made this terrifying realization, I decided that it would be great to make a list of things that I would like to do, you know, since it is my last ever summer break before I move out on my own and start a career.  I thought I would share this list with you guys today, so I hope you enjoy!

1. Take advantage of my mom's cooking
This may sound like a stupid thing, but you don't appreciate how GOOD your mom's food is, until you are forced to make your own food.  Literally anything you make will never taste as good as a home cooked meal.  I will be taking advantage of this often!

2. EXERCISE on a regular basis
Notice how I say 'on a regular basis'.  During the summer, I have the tendency to kind of "forget" to exercise most days.  I guess I just get know watching Netflix for 8 hours a day...or something like that, but then I get to September and I regret EVERYTHING.  I really want to change that this summer.  I have been quite good about going to the gym regularly so I would like to keep it up!

3. Read as many books as possible
Truth is: I absolutely adore reading.  It is amazing to be able to be pulled into a story and experience things through a different lens like that; it is such a unique experience.  During school, I RARELY if ever get the chance to read for fun, since I'm probably studying for other things.  Who knows, this summer may be the only opportunity to have this much time to read as many books as I can.
~If you have any book suggestions, please let me know. :)~

4. Stay organized
I know that this isn't the most exciting thing ever, but I will be quite busy this summer with TWO internships that require a lot of time and preparation.  The only way to keep my sanity is to stay organized.  Generally a big day-by-day calendar or a to-do list should do the trick.  I actually really enjoy organizing things because it keeps me on track and less likely to panic when things come up.  Good thing to keep on top of everything going on in life.

Those are just some of the things that I hope to do this summer!  Hopefully I will also find some time to relax and be lazy...hAhhaaa yeah right.

Well, I hope you all have a fantastic day/week/month and enjoying life and stuff.

See you soon,

Coming to a close

Heya everyone!
So it is finally May, which means spring time (almost summer), and more importantly NO SCHOOL!   It is crazy to think that my Junior year of college has almost come to a close.  When I think about it, this year went by so quickly, like literally where has the time gone.  I have no idea.  So much has changed in the past year I don't even know where to begin.

Next week I begin finals week aka death week.  As of now, I still have two papers to write, three presentations to work on, and two final projects that need to be completed.  EEK. I don't know if I'm going to survive this week.  The only thing keeping me sane is knowing that I will be done with school for a while.

The end of the year is also really funny living with roommates.  Since we are all going to our own homes over the summer, we have to decide what we need to pack, keep, throw away, eat, donate, ect.  The fridge always goes from full to practically empty after a thorough cleaning session.  My friends and I also call finals week 'Pizza Week" because is literally all we want to eat and we generally order pizza AT LEAST once, probably more ;)  It's my favorite part of the week to be honest.

It also gets a bit chaotic everywhere because we are all trying to pack our clothes, and kitchen supplies, as well as furniture.  The building we live in also gave us an extensive list of all the things we need to clean, including but not limited to:  inside light fixtures, under the stove, in the shower drain, and on the base boards.  SO. MUCH. CLEANING.

Other than that, I am excited for this next week to just be done.  I can't believe I will be a senior in college.  That is a bit too much for my brain to wrap around.  It seems like I was just starting my freshman year of college yesterday.  That's crazy.  I also had a really fun thought that this will be my last official summer vacation in my entire life......

Well, here's to a strong finish to junior year, and to a crazy, fun-filled summer(which probably won't be, but still).  If you are taking exams soon, I wish you all the luck in the world and remember that you can do it!  I believe in you! ^_^

It is currently midnight right now, and I still need to crank out another 3 pages before I go to bed. GREAT.  #prayforme

Wanderlust | Tokyo

Heya Everyone!
Or should I say こんにちは (Kon'nichiwa)
~ 'Hello' in Japanese~
I have been seeing a lot of people on the internet going to Japan, and I just wanted to say how unbelievably jealous I am of them. Tokyo, or Japan in general, is really high on my "Places to Travel" list.  Tokyo is known for it's efficient railways, tongue-gasmic food, and amazing architecture

I especially would LOVE to visit during the cherry blossom season. It looks so beautiful!

I think one of the big things why Tokyo appeals so much is because the amount of culture in one place. Tokyo is always bustling with people, as it is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. If you go down any street, there is something to do there. I would love to cross the famous Shibuya crossing
And eat the well-known Harajuku crepes. I've heard they're to DIE for. SO MANY CHOICES.
I always would love to try all of the different themed cafés around Tokyo. Pretty much anything you can think of has it's own place. Cat café, owl cafe, maid café, Pokémon café, Final Fantasy café, a NINJA BAR (WHAAAA!?). I've heard the Robot café is KILLER.
I mean does this not look like A LOT OF FUN.

Have you ever been to Tokyo? If so, what are some of your favorite things to see there? What would recommend as a 'MUST SEE'?

How to Combat Stress

Heya everyone!

If you are like me, you may be with me in saying that it is a stressful time of the year.  With homework, numerous projects, exams, working, and all other various non-school related activities, it can really wear down on your body and your mind.  After many experiences with stress, I have learned a thing or two about relaxing, that I think may be helpful to some people.

1. Meditation/Prayer
Especially before bed, meditating &/or praying(if it's your thing) can be a great way to clear your mind/get your mind settled.  If you are like me and are not a meditation expert, there are lots of resources online.  I particularly like (FREE) which includes soothing music, relaxing pictures, along with guided meditation by a women who has the most ~calm~ voice I've ever heard.  I have never felt so relaxed.  There are also TONS of meditation videos on YouTube that will do the trick as well. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend doing so; even 5 minutes a day can make such a huge difference!

2. Exercise
Any form of exercise you like is an awesome way to get the blood flowing and to get rid of extra stress.  That feeling of sweating out the stress is incredible and can really boost your mood and get rid of the negative energy.  Sometimes I just walk around in circles for 20 minutes and that's okay - it doesn't have to be running a marathon, any kind of exercise is better than nothing.

3. Writing
Even if you're not into writing per se, it can be a great tool in helping combat stress.  Writing things out whether it's a diary, poem, or fan fiction(no judgement) can be a great way to get all of your pent up emotions and to get your minds off reality...because who wants that...

4. Take care of yourself
This can mean a whole lot of things:
Eat right.  As tempting as pizza and hamburgers sound everyday, it is not good for your body or your mind.  It can make you feel sluggish, tired, and generally like crap if you eat nothing but junk food.  Fruits and veggies are your friend.
Get enough sleep.  As difficult as this may sound, getting enough sleep is ACTUALLY good for you.  Who knew?!  Even though us internet people spend way too late at night surfing the good old web, it is important to put your laptop or phone down and get a good nights rest.  Good for your body and all that science-y stuff.
Hygiene.  Although you may not feel like there is enough time in the day, it is important to make sure to keep up your hygiene, including but not limited to showering, brushing your teeth, changing your clothes on a regular  basis ect.  Feeling clean makes you feel good. :D

5. Breathe
This one is almost too obvious I shouldn't even mention it, but often times when we are stressed we forget to BREATHE.  We need to breathe otherwise we would die and all of that stuff, so promise me that you will keep doing that.  I don't think I need to say anything else about this...

Do it with me now: Deep breath in........deep breath out.........

Do you feel relaxed yet???

Stress can really wreck havoc, but just know that, with these tips, you can combat it.

You got it!

Sunday Sounds #7

I hope that you have all had a fabulous week and an even better/relaxing weekend thus far!  I have been listening to a lot of music lately(nothing new there) and it's nearly been 3 WHOLE MONTHS since I last did Sunday Sounds(omg), so I thought I would share some of my amazing finds with you this week.  It is a bit of an eclectic mix of music but I'm hoping that you will you appreciate some of them and maybe even find your new fave song :]

1. If You Wanna Stay The Griswolds
I first heard this song on Pandora and I instantly loved it for it's upbeat feel!!  I've never heard The Griswolds before(except I believe I have featured them in my Sunday Sounds before), but I think that they are very talented and underrated.  I especially appreciate the 80s ish vibe that the song gives off because it is a song that I can see myself blasting this in my car with the windows down.

2. Dead Inside Muse
I have been a long time lover of all Muse songs, and with their new album coming out soon, I was very excited.  They have recently released a couple of songs from this album and I like this song a lot.  The music video is a bit weird(Just a heads up!) but it is very much like a typical Muse song, including guitar riffs and strong bass line.  I wouldn't consider this my fave Muse song, but it is still worth a listen!

3. Wesley's Theory Kendrick Lamar
*Caution:  This song contains some explicit language.  Listen with caution.

I heard that Kendrick's new album 'To Pimp A Butterfly' was a real good'un, so obviously I had to take a listen for myself.  This song is one of my faves from the album, mainly because of the beat; it's just a real head-banger.  To be honest, I honestly don't listen to this genre of music(hip-hop/rap??) very often, but I have developed a true appreciation because of the underlying messages and ability to make the words flow smoothly together.  It takes a real talent that's for sure - I definitely couldn't do it!

I hope y'all enjoy this week's music picks!
Let me know of some of your fave songs at the moment!

See you sooooooonnnn x
