Life Update | January 2015

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since I just sat down and told you everything that has been going on in my life for the past couple of weeks.  So lettsssaagooo!

I have started back at school for the second semester.  It's only been a couple of weeks but I'm already drowning in endless projects and papers, that it's almost too hard to keep up.  I think that this semester is definitely going to be a lot more difficult than last semester. :(  On the upside, I have been meeting with a career counselor to help find an internship that is required for my major.. We have a couple of great opportunities that we are looking into that I'm really really excited for. I hope it all works out. Keep an eye out for updates on that one. ^_^

In other news, me and a couple of friends decided to sign up for a yoga sculpt class at our fitness center on campus.  Now let me tell you:  I have NEVER done any yoga whatsoever, but I didn't think it would be too bad because I have been running for a while now.  WRONG.
I found that Yoga is very difficult by itself, but when you add intense cardio, horrific squats, and painfully long planks, it is WAYYY more intense.  The morning after our first class, I woke up with all my muscles crying.  It hurt to bend over, to lift my arms, to walk up stairs, but I guess it is a good burn: "No pain, no gain".  Despite the soreness, I am really excited to continue this class.
Beach body, here I come!!!

My 21st birthday is also coming up alarmingly quick!  Don't worry - I will be posting about that very soon.

Hope you all are doing well and enjoying life and stuff!  Talk to you soon!

Imposter Syndrome

What is imposter syndrome?
It is a "phenomenon" in which people are unable to internalize their accomplishments.
What on earth does THAT mean?
On a very basic level, it means that people don't think that they have accomplished anything and are unable to say that they have any accomplishments.

Imposter syndrome is something that is a very real condition that I think a lot of people deal with on a regular basis.  A lot of it stems from our inability to comprehend any of our accomplishments.  I think that many people looking for jobs or seeking a promotion deal with this the most, because they have to physically think about all of their accomplishments on why they deserve the job and/or promotion.
I think that is why I am feeling a lot of that right now; mainly because as I become close to graduating college and seeking a job, I begin to realize that I feel very under-qualified for most of the jobs that I would absolutely LOVE to have.  It makes me very sad and anxious because I don't feel worthy of a job that I think would make me happy.

Does anyone else feel this way?
What are some ways to help this?  Please let me know!

I also made a video about it, which you can check out here!

Happy internet-ing!

2015: My "Selfish Year"

It's a new year so what's the old saying?
"New Year New Me!", right?

It seems like everyone says this around the new year and making resolutions that they will inevitably break by day 3.
(Kudos to those of you who have still stuck with your resolutions.  Proud of you!)
But this year is different.  I feel it deep inside me.
I honestly do want to change.
So I'm considering 2015, my "selfish year".
A chance to really make a dramatic change in my life.  But on MY terms and because I want to do so.
I want to become healthier, both physically and mentally.
So far this year, I have taken up running (which is amazing in itself, considering I used to DESPISE running.)  I'm actually quite enjoying running.  Even though I feel like my lungs are being stabbed by thousands of knives, it's a good burn and I can definitely feel myself getting fitter.
Along with exercise, I have been eating healthier.  I plan on cutting out all refined/processed foods from my diet.  That sounds pretty drastic I know, but I'm actually really excited to start this new healthy chapter in my life!

On the "becoming healthier mentally"topic, I have one word for you: DECLUTTER.
Declutter absolutely everything.
I have a few things planned:
1. Declutter my closet
2. Declutter my work area.
3. Organize, organize organize.
4. Start planning your life out, so I'm not constantly stressed about doing it last minute.
5.Did I mention organize?
Along with cleaning my closet and stuff like that, I also want to "clean" out my social life.
Cut out all the people who don't deserve your time.  Cut out all the people who treat you poorly but expect you to be their for them when they need you.
I'm done being that person.
I think that "cleaning" these people out of my life will make me feel a whole lot better in so many ways.

Now obviously this won't happen overnight, but if you make a few small changes over time, it will lead to BIG results.  Which I am SOOOOO ready for!
Bring it on, 2015!! :]

Sunday Sounds #4

It's Sunday
And Sunday means... it's Sunday Sounds time!!!!
(I bet you've missed it)
Here are some songs that I have been absolutely loving recently, and I hope that you find some interest in them as well.
Also, let me know in the comments some new songs/artists that I should check out?  I am always looking for a new favorite to obsess over :)

No Story Time Smallpools
I recently discovered this group through Pandora(THANK YOU!)  and I have become obsessed with their music!  It seems like every song they have is a good one.  I will be keeping my eye on this group!

work work clipping.
Warning:  Contains explicit language.  But it has a good beat and it's a very unusual song but I have strangely been listening to it a lot recently.

Vagabonds Grizfolk
Another delightful treasure I discovered from Pandora.  It has a good beat to it and the chorus is very catchy!  I can't help but find myself humming this song during most days.

As always,
Happy internet-ing!

Happy 1st birthday, blog!
It has officially been one year since I've started this blog!
WOW, that's crazy.

It seems like just yesterday that I had decided that I wanted to start writing some posts about things that happen in my life.

& so much has happened this past year that I am glad to look back on everything and remember it.

Life really flies by, doesn't it?

See you in the new year!
