Em's Favorites | May

(I don't know why I shouted that but it's probably because I'm very excited to tell you about some things that I have been LOVING this month) (and other months too but don't tell anyone)

1. Bolthouse Farms Vanilla Chai Tea

Guys.  This stuff though.  I didn't think I would like it because I'm not a big fan of chai tea to begin with but when I took a trip to the store, I was looking for a new drink to try.  I was going to go for some kind of caffeine(because exhausted college student) but my eyes went to this one, and since I've been a bit WILD recently,  I impulsively bought it.  Wasn't expecting too much, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised!  It was freakin' delicious.  It sort of tastes like vanilla coffee creamer, but in a nice way (if that makes any sense whatsoever).  It has a very creamy taste that is similar to milk.  I will definitely by rebuying this product!

2. Lilac Blossom Mini Mason Jar Candle
Simply put, this candle smells AH-mazing!
Imagine you are standing in a lilac field and you bottle that air, condense it to make it into wax and put it into a mason.  This is what it would smell like. It is literally the best candle for this time of year because it reminds me of springtime. (Sidenote: my parents have a lilac bush in their backyard and this candle smells EXACTLY like a full-bloom lilac bush; which makes me super happy).

3. Impractical Jokers

A program on TruTV that has quickly received a special place in my heart.  The premise is simple: 4 friends(Joe, Sal, Murr, and Q) compete in hidden camera prank challenges. Whoever loses the most challenges in each episode must face a humiliation concocted by the other 3 guys.  I have found myself often crying from laughter from some of the challenges they had to do.  Legit TEARS coming from my eyes.  I can watch this show for hours and never get bored9That must say a lot, right?)

Wellllllll...those are some things that I have been obsessed with recently!  I'm going to go drink my chai tea, smell my lilac candle, and watch Impractical Jokers. :D

What are some things that you have been loving?

Things to do if you're feeling down

Heya everyone!

Ever feel like you are having a really crappy day, where nothing goes right and you just aren't feelin' it?  Yeah, me too.
Everyone has those down days.
If you are, here are some ideas of things to keep you busy on these types of days that you can't pull yourself out of.

1. take a shower
wash your hair, scrub your body, moisturize, do all the things that will make your feel clean and nice.

2. change your clothes
fresh underwear, clean pyjamas or sweatpants, or even nice clothes, whatever makes you happy

3. eat
this is actually so important.  even if it's just soup, bread, fruit, or pizza.  Although eating healthy is better for you, food is food and your body needs it to work properly.

4. drink
water is best to keep your body nourished, hydrated, and cleansed.  try to avoid alcohol, soft drinks, juice, and other sugary beverages.

5. go for a walk
it may feel difficult when you're feeling down, but exercise can really really help.  if you have a dog, take it for a walk.  or else, find a friend to go with, or if you prefer going by yourself to clear your head, that's okay too!

6. listen to music
music has such an amazing power to control your mood, so listen to something that makes you happy.  whether it's country music, classical music, bubblegum pop music, whatever your heart desires.  also sing along with the music, it's fun!  music can change everything.

7. read a book
watching tv shows is great, but nothing is better to keep you preoccupied than reading a good book.  there's nothing like it.  tip:  if you'r not into reading, try reading something that you have seen the movie, like Harry Potter.  Harry Potter is ALWAYS a good idea.

8. make a list
making a list of things can be a great way to keep organized and to get rid of unwanted stress.  i highly recommend that everyone makes lists for every aspect of your life.  it makes it a lot easier.

9. be good to yourself.
you are the only 'you' that you get, so take care of yourself.  You are beautiful, unique, talented, and worth it.  Your life matters.

Take care everyone,

REVIEW | Avengers: Age of Ultron

Yes.  I'm probably the last person to see this (college is my excuse), but I finally went to see this movie this past week.  As a big lover of everything Marvel, I had very high expectations for this sequel to the Avengers.  First of all, I do have to say that it was enjoyable.  There were lots of explosions and things like that - so if that's not exactly your thing I don't think you would like it as much.  I thought that all the action scenes were perfectly sequenced and the special effects were AMAZING!  I definitely think that everything looked really cool.

All main characters were there (i.e. Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow) with some new characters Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olson).  I actually thought that their accents were really funny at first but quickly got used to it.

Obviously a big part of the movie revolved around Ultron, who is the villain of this movie.  Without giving too much away, Ultron is the artificial intelligence creation of none other than Tony Stark.  He was created to help spread peace, but ends up wanting to destroy the world.  Casual.

I also really liked this movie because we got to see a little more behind the scenes of some characters, particularly Hawkeye.  It was cool to see a different side to him, and it just made him even more loveable as a character.  There was also budding romance between Natasha(Black Widow) and Bruce (Hulk).  This was kind of funny to me ( my sister hated it!) but overall it was cute and it definitely added to the plot.

I would also recommend seeing it more than once, if able?  Since it is over 2 hours, there is a LOT to absorb.  Seeing it more than once will allow you to pick up everything and to understand it.

Yes, there is a lot of action, some deaths, many building explosions, and plenty of humor that make it such an enjoyable film to watch.  I know it got some criticism because of flaws(i.e. not following comic books, too much fighting sequences) but personally, I found it to be the perfect amount of funny/action/fighting, and I don't really care too much about the comic book aspect...

I would give this movie a "Go see it for the action, and some humor, especially if you love Marvel movies" rating.  I am also thinking about seeing it in 3D soon, because I think it would look KILLER on a big movie screen in 3D.

Have you seen this movie yet?  What did you think of it?
Let me know!

See you soon,

Heya everyone!
I am officially done with school for the summer WOOOOOOOOO!
This also means that I am officially a SENIOR IN COLLEGE. 0.o That is crazy.  It is also crazy to think that this is my last summer break. ever. like EVER. In my entire life.  Once I made this terrifying realization, I decided that it would be great to make a list of things that I would like to do, you know, since it is my last ever summer break before I move out on my own and start a career.  I thought I would share this list with you guys today, so I hope you enjoy!

1. Take advantage of my mom's cooking
This may sound like a stupid thing, but you don't appreciate how GOOD your mom's food is, until you are forced to make your own food.  Literally anything you make will never taste as good as a home cooked meal.  I will be taking advantage of this often!

2. EXERCISE on a regular basis
Notice how I say 'on a regular basis'.  During the summer, I have the tendency to kind of "forget" to exercise most days.  I guess I just get know watching Netflix for 8 hours a day...or something like that, but then I get to September and I regret EVERYTHING.  I really want to change that this summer.  I have been quite good about going to the gym regularly so I would like to keep it up!

3. Read as many books as possible
Truth is: I absolutely adore reading.  It is amazing to be able to be pulled into a story and experience things through a different lens like that; it is such a unique experience.  During school, I RARELY if ever get the chance to read for fun, since I'm probably studying for other things.  Who knows, this summer may be the only opportunity to have this much time to read as many books as I can.
~If you have any book suggestions, please let me know. :)~

4. Stay organized
I know that this isn't the most exciting thing ever, but I will be quite busy this summer with TWO internships that require a lot of time and preparation.  The only way to keep my sanity is to stay organized.  Generally a big day-by-day calendar or a to-do list should do the trick.  I actually really enjoy organizing things because it keeps me on track and less likely to panic when things come up.  Good thing to keep on top of everything going on in life.

Those are just some of the things that I hope to do this summer!  Hopefully I will also find some time to relax and be lazy...hAhhaaa yeah right.

Well, I hope you all have a fantastic day/week/month and enjoying life and stuff.

See you soon,

Coming to a close

Heya everyone!
So it is finally May, which means spring time (almost summer), and more importantly NO SCHOOL!   It is crazy to think that my Junior year of college has almost come to a close.  When I think about it, this year went by so quickly, like literally where has the time gone.  I have no idea.  So much has changed in the past year I don't even know where to begin.

Next week I begin finals week aka death week.  As of now, I still have two papers to write, three presentations to work on, and two final projects that need to be completed.  EEK. I don't know if I'm going to survive this week.  The only thing keeping me sane is knowing that I will be done with school for a while.

The end of the year is also really funny living with roommates.  Since we are all going to our own homes over the summer, we have to decide what we need to pack, keep, throw away, eat, donate, ect.  The fridge always goes from full to practically empty after a thorough cleaning session.  My friends and I also call finals week 'Pizza Week" because is literally all we want to eat and we generally order pizza AT LEAST once, probably more ;)  It's my favorite part of the week to be honest.

It also gets a bit chaotic everywhere because we are all trying to pack our clothes, and kitchen supplies, as well as furniture.  The building we live in also gave us an extensive list of all the things we need to clean, including but not limited to:  inside light fixtures, under the stove, in the shower drain, and on the base boards.  SO. MUCH. CLEANING.

Other than that, I am excited for this next week to just be done.  I can't believe I will be a senior in college.  That is a bit too much for my brain to wrap around.  It seems like I was just starting my freshman year of college yesterday.  That's crazy.  I also had a really fun thought that this will be my last official summer vacation in my entire life......

Well, here's to a strong finish to junior year, and to a crazy, fun-filled summer(which probably won't be, but still).  If you are taking exams soon, I wish you all the luck in the world and remember that you can do it!  I believe in you! ^_^

It is currently midnight right now, and I still need to crank out another 3 pages before I go to bed. GREAT.  #prayforme
