Hey everyone!  What's the year, new me?

It's almost Christmas!

Saturday, November 25, 2017

Hey guys!

It is the heart of fall and winter is quickly approaching!  And it's also the season of comfy, cozy, fuzzy feels, which is some of my favorite things :)  So, I found some questions that go together nicely with this time of year.

Hey guys!

This weekend went by in the blink of an eye! Like seriously...where did it go?!

Thursday, November 9, 2017

Hey guys!

Sorry I've been  bit quiet on the interwebs.  It's kind of been one of the days/weeks where I just needed to unplug for a little bit.

Last weekend, we drove up to Duluth to spend the day with my sister.  And I thought I would show you some pictures I took :)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS | Maple Holistics Tea Tree Shampoo

**Disclaimer!  I received a free sample of this product in exchange for giving you, the reader, a chance to get a free sample too.  All opinions, as usual, are completely my own.  Thanks!**

I was having one of those ways, well... weeks, where I didn't feel like washing my hair, which in turn leads to very itchy scalp.  I know...I know...not something you probably wanted to know, but I hope you read on...

It's been officially Fall now for a couple of weeks, but today I think is one of the days where I actually FEEL like it's Fall time.  And of course there are so many Fall activities/things I love about this time of year (I'm going to do a blog post on that soon!), but I actually went to my first pumpkin patch in about 10 years today!  And it was just as magical as I thought it was going to be!

I was in one of those moods to make a pizza.  Sometimes making food yourself tastes so much better than ordering out.  And I found a recipe that I will definitely be using again and again.  And I'd like to share it with you!

Hey y'all, happy Fall!

Yes.  Yesterday was officially the first day of autumn.  And despite it being unseasonably hot out (a nice 93 degrees), we decided to go for a walk at the local nature park reserve by my house and take in the beginning of the fall colors.  And I, of course, had to bring my camera, so I thought I would share some of my favorite pictures that I took :)

A Day in Stillwater

It was a beautiful day and I had my new camera, so I decided what better way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon than go to picturesque downtown Stillwater and take some photos.

A Long Weekend

Hey y'all!

Happy weekend!  (Finally).  I don't know about you but this week has just dragged on for ever and ever, and I felt like I could never catch up on all the things I have to do for work.  But when Friday finally rolled around, I quickly left the office and was ready for the weekend.  And it's a long weekend, so I get Monday off as well.  WOO!!

So Saturday we took my sister up to college for her junior year, and spent all afternoon unpacking and getting her settled into her apartment.  Ah, the life of a college student.  Then once we finished unpacking most of her stuff, we decided to go out for lunch/dinner (because it was like 3pm, already!)  at Olive Garden, which was really tasty.  I hadn't gone there in forever!

Today was actually a pretty productive day.  I went to the gym, went grocery shopping, filled my car up with some gas, laid out in the sun for a little bit, filmed some videos, cut up some fruit...pretty productive if I do say so myself.  Now I'm just lounging on the couch, watching mindless TV, and writing this blog post :)

Tomorrow, I have no idea what the day has in store.  No plans.  But those are my favorite types of days: nowhere to be, no agenda.  Best days ever.

I'm already dreading going back to work :P

Let me know what you have been up to this weekend!

Cheers x

A Week Away

Hey everyone!

Whew...this week has been absolutely crazy.  If you didn't know, I have been in Cleveland, Ohio this past week for some software training for work.  I left bright and early on a Sunday morning.  The airport was a lot busier then I thought it was going to be, but luckily it only took 15 minutes to get through security.  I did have a bit of a scare going through security though, because when I got to the other side of the body scanner to collect my things again, my ID was not in the bin that I put it in.  I immediately panicked and thought that someone must have taken it.  I flagged down one TSA officers and told him that I couldn't find it, and he helped look through the other bins.  Finally he went to the scanner and came back with my ID in hand (!!!!!), and said that it had "somehow fallen out of the bin"?  I have no idea how that could have happened, but I was just glad that he had found it.  So that wasn't a very great start to my trip.  Afterwards, I went to a bakery and ordered a breakfast sandwich and a coffee.  Both were delicious.  The plane ride wasn't that bad either - only a little turbulence going through the clouds but once we got over them, it was smooth sailing.  It was a relatively short flight from MSP to CLE (about 1 1/2 hours I think).  The hotel shuttle picked me up from the airport and I checked in and I think I took a shower, ordered food, laid in bed, and chilled the rest of the night.  My training for the week was 9-4:30, with an hour lunch that they paid for (which was definitely a plus!)  A couple of nights after training we did some fun things like going to the Cheesecake Factory and Sibling Revelery Brewery.  What I quickly discovered is that Cleveland is a foodie's dream place.  There are so many different places to eat.  I tried Indian food for the first time which I was pretty impressed.  I have become obsessed with the garlic naan (bread) - it was so delicious and definitely my favorite.
At the end of the week, we had to take an "assessment" of the training we had just done - which was basically a 33 question timed exam.  I was stressing about it alllllllll week.  But found out everyone in the class passed! WOOOOOO!  I also got the only 100% grade which I was very surprised because I guessed on a couple of them, but I mean, I'm not complaining ;)  Then this morning I packed up my stuff, and checked out of the hotel and shuttled to the airport where I am currently writing this blog post from the corner of a quiet cafe with a tall class of coffee.  How cozy!  Sorry for this word-vomit of post, but I like talking (or writing) so I guess you'll have to deal with it this week.  It's been a fun week away, but I'm ready to come back home. :)

What have you done this week?

Thoughts from a tired mind

You know when your mind is running a mile a minute with thoughts and sometimes it's easier to just write down all of your thoughts to you don't have it all contained up in the brain.  It's a nice to get those things off your mind...

Well I Did It...

Well I did it....

I signed up for a gym membership.  This may not seem monumental to any of you, but it is to me.  I had been meaning to sign up for a gym for literally, and I'm not exaggerating, THREE YEARS.  But I had never got around to it.  So today is my birthday, and my gift to myself is the gift of health (wow that sounded better in my head lol).  So I went to the gym and signed up.  I am really excited to try all of the group fitness classes, particularly the cycling classes.  I have always wanted to try cycling and weights, so I am excited to give it a try!

Ice Sculptures | Out and About

Today was the perfect winter day: sunny and not too cold to enjoy the indoors.  After a long drive home from visiting my boyfriend, my mom, dad, and I decided to go to the Ice Sculptures at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.  It was really cool to see all of the sculptures and I couldn't actually believe that all of them were actually made of ice; they were so good!

Had a good day, except when we were walking back to the car, I slipped on the ice and landed right on my hip bone.  Currently icing my hip as I write.  Hope you all have a great week!

Monster M & M Cookies

Hey y'all -

My mom wanted me to make some monster cookies and so I went on the hunt to find a deliciously, easy recipe.  If you're unfamiliar, monster cookies are essentially oats, peanut butter, chocolate chips, and M&M candies.  YUM.  I ended up finding this recipe from Chef Saavy, and they looked freakin' delish!

The recipe and instructions are as follows:

½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar
½ cup creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 whole egg
¾ cup all purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1½ cups old fashioned oats
1 cup M & M's
½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (with mixer or by hand works too.)
Add in peanut butter and mix.
Add in vanilla and egg. Mix until combined.
Combine flour, salt and baking soda in a small bowl.
Add the dry ingredients to the batter in two parts.  But do not over mix!
Fold in old fashioned oats, M & M's and chocolate chips.
Portion dough into 16-18 cookies and place on a baking sheet.
Bake cookies for 11-13 minutes or until lightly golden brown and firm on the edges.
Remove from the oven and let set for 3-4 minutes.

Literally so easy and tasty.  I highly recommend you make these cookies if you are looking for something to indulge your sweet tooth!

Happy baking!

A LOOK AT | The Body Shop Argan Oil Collection

As you may or may not know, I have a serious love of products that have oil in them.  Not only are they super hydrating but I think they make a serious difference in the overall texture and health of my hair/body.  For Christmas, I was (kindly) gifted the new The Body Shop Argan Oil Collection and I would like to share it with you today.

This collection comes in a beautiful turquiose box with a golden bow and makes it very exciting to open.  Once sliding the bow off and opening the box, you are met with The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil shower gel, body butter, exfoliating gel body scrub, soap, and a miniature loofa.  SO many goodies!

Although argan oil is not my favorite scent, the smell is pleasant enough to use.  All of the products come in a nice sample size which would be perfect for any type of traveling.  The shower gel reminds me of a honey, but more oil-y (if that makes sense?)  The body butter has a really lovely butter-y consistency and just absorbs into the skin without leaving any sticky residue.  The exfoliating gel body scrub is such an interesting product.  I have never tried a gel body scrub before, and honestly on first touching it, it feels very gel-like.  But once you rub it on your skin, you can definitely notice the exfoliating part of the scrub.  I think it will be nice to use on my legs and arms in the shower.  I have yet to try the soap as I normally don't use soap, but it comes wrapped in a nice papery packaging and I'm excited to try it.  Last but not least, is a tiny, white shower loofa.  I think that this loofa is so cute and would be perfect for traveling (as it so small).

What is your favorite shower/body product at the moment?

Mall of America Adventure

We had the day off of work for New Year's  and decided to go to the Mall of America for a fun family day.  As a lot of people had it off, it got very busy in the afternoon.

All of the pretty Christmas lights were still up this day!

There was a really cool thing at the Microsoft store where you could try their VR machine.  This is my sister trying it out.

We also stopped by the glasses shop where we looked at some glasses.  I don't need glasses for seeing (yet), but might get some to prevent eye strain from excessive computer use.  How do they look?? ;)

Had a fun time!  What did you do this weekend?

Tired Thoughts

You know when you just have so much on your mind that you can't fall asleep, but at the same time you are so tired and could fall asleep at anytime?  This is me right now.  So I thought I would write some thoughts down for you today.  Kind of like a stream of consciousness.

How has your day been?  Mine has been crazy busy.  Like literally I barely sat down for 5 minutes before I had to run around again.  I suppose it's better than sitting on my as  all day.  As far as my new job goes, I am enjoying it so far.  it is a lot to remember and there is a lot of responsibility, so a lot of pressure to make sure you do the right thing all the time.  It's kind of exhausting.  Sometime I just want to turn my brain off.  Anyways, we went to the Mall of America yesterday.  It was a lot of fun, but it got very busy later on in the day.  I got a beauty blender, new eyeliner from NYX, and a lotion from Bath and Body Works.  Successful haul!  I also dropped a pan on my foot a couple of days ago, and my foot is still bruised.  Hopefully it gets better soon because it actually hurts.  So about that election...heh heh heh just kidding I don't want to talk about it.  You know what's really good, potatoes.  I could literally eat potatoes everyday, in any way.  Speaking of food, I am ~trying~ very hard to actually stay on a healthy diet plan.  More fruits and vegetables, less refined food and sugars.  Also I'm making an effort to work out 4-5 times a week.  I had actually been doing 3-4 times a week but then the 2 weeks before/after Christmas happened and practically no exercise was done then.  So I am going to start from square one again and work up my endurance.  So yeah that's what I'm doing.  Ya know "new year, new me" thing.  I have been watching season 8 of Castle with my mom (she got the DVD set for Christmas) and I am so sad that it's over!  Castle has been one of my favorite shows EVER and I wish there were more shows like it.  Speaking of that, there are so many crap tv shows on tv now.  Like there is literally nothing to watch.  Do you have any suggestions for good tv shows to watch?  Hook a girl up please.  I'm currently eating a piece of Dove chocolate; the kind with the caramel filling, and it is SO delicious.  Also, what did we do to deserve dogs?  Like they are so precious.  I watched a video compilation of dogs doing funny things and it made my heart burst.  I want ALL THE DOGS.  Ok I'm starting to get tired now and I have to get up early tomorrow to HIT THE GYM.  Oh yeah, check me out.  Jk I'm headed to bed.  Night guys.

Buying My First Car (Tips + Advice)

So I recently just did my first adult purchase...I bought a car!  With my own money!  All by myself!  As you can tell I am quite pleased with myself.  Buying a car is obviously a very important and (expensive) purchase, so today I thought I would give some tips and advice on buying your first car!

Establish a realistic budget
I know we all would love to have those fancy, expensive sports cars, but for most of us, that is a bit unrealistic.  It is important to establish a realistic budget of how much you want to pay.  Although paying cash for your car is ideal, it is more common to have some sort of loan/financing through the dealership or bank.  Remember when coming up with a realistic budget should include things such as insurance, gas, and maintenance.

Wants vs Needs
For a first-time car, do you need to have all the bells and whistles?  Probably not.  And this can probably save you a lot of money.  Of course I want a GPS/entertainment system and a heated steering wheel, but those were things that I decided were "wants", and it ultimately saved me quite a lot of money on the car that I ended up going with.

Do your research
Do.Your. Research.  I can't say this enough.  Read reviews, check out, it's never been easier with the Internet.  Read what actual owners of the vehicles say about them, and then weigh the pros and cons.  I also recommend looking at models that are around the years that you want.  You might find that there are differences in the models from year to year.

How much do you want to spend?
This is obviously almost self-explanatory that I probably don't even need to say it, but: how much do you want to spend?  How much do you feel comfortable spending?  You don't want to spend the rest of your life living paycheck to paycheck to pay for your car.  Make sure to negotiate with the car dealership and see if you can get a better price. Also look up a vehicle's market value on (Kelley Blue Book) to see if you are getting a fair price.

Know your financing options
Like I mentioned previously, most people need some sort of financing option in order to purchase a vehicle.  This depends greatly on your credit score, and if you have insufficient credit history, you might need a co-signer on a loan or get a cheaper car.  Check with your bank or credit union to see if they offer competitive interest rates on loans to compare with the dealership loan options.

Happy car shopping!
