WHAT I ATE TODAY #1 | 12.20.18

Hey all!  Today I documented what I ate today and thought I would share it with you.

For breakfast, I had some blueberry streusel toast that I bought from Target.  It is my favorite type of bread - it is so delicious! 😋

For lunch, a whole bunch of coworkers and I went to Hen House for a Christmas Luncheon at the office.  It was a short walk in downtown Minneapolis so it was the perfect place to go for a bit of lunch.  Hen House is a cute cafe type restaurant that serves farm to table food that is fresh and locally grown.  I think that is one of the reasons that I loved eating here.  MUCH to my happiness, they serve breakfast ALL DAY.  I can get behind that 😉I got the Bacon, Egg, Avocado sandwich and it came with hash browns.  It was so so so good.  I would definitely come back here for some more.  Especially for brunch!

For dinner, I decided to make something I have never made before.  I tried mashed garlic cauliflower that is supposed to mic garlic mashed potatoes (which is one of my favorites!) . Although you could definitely taste the difference and the texture is different, it wasn't bad.  I would probably eat it again.  I also made some fire roasted corn from Fresh Thyme and a chicken sausage stuffed with mozzarella cheese that is also from Fresh Thyme.  Delicious!

What did you guys have for dinner tonight? 😋

Talk to you soon!

Hey everyone!

Today I wanted to give you a look at the ColourPop Got Me Beaming Highlighter Palette.  I was actually in the market for a new highlighter, but did not want to spend $40 for one, so I actually picked this one up from Ulta on a whim.  At $18 price point, the palette comes with 4 different shades of highlighter: 2 are more light colored and the other 2 are more bronze-y shades.

It has a beautiful shine to each the shades.  One cool thing I found is that is can be used both alone and over makeup to give a nice highlight to my face.  When I feel like I'm having a good skin day and just want a little more definition to my face, I use this highlight palette alone and place it on my cheekbones, tip of nose, cupid's bow, and inner corner of eyes.  It really brightens up my face!  It has a very natural glow-y look so it is PERFECT for your everyday makeup look!

My go to: mix a combination of Please Do and No Type

Swatches of the 4 colors in the palette.  As you can tell, very nice and subtle but a beautiful glow.

I have really, really enjoyed ColourPop's makeup products that I have tried so far, and I actually have a couple of more review in the works, so look forward to those coming soon! ☺️

As Christmas is closely approaching, I have been increasingly interested in Christmas related pajama sets.  Because they are so cute and cozy and perfect to wear in the cold winter nights.  I compiled a list of my favorite PJs I found at Target that I think are so so so cute and I think you will enjoy them too! 💕

1. Women's Dr. Suess Holiday Grinch Super Soft Plush Pajama Pants - Black

Don't mind me...I'm going to add all of these to my cart and stay in pajamas for the rest of December.  And I'm completely ok with that.

Hey everyone!

*This post contains affiliate links.

Today I wanted to show you a new product that I have been using for the last two or so weeks and I am just so excited about it that I want to share it with my lovely readers!

This product is the NYX Illuminator.  The one that I bought is in the shade Ritualistic, but I know that they have a total of five shades.  I have become a huge fan of NYX Cosmetics because they have such a wide range of products and also because many of their products are so affordable which I am all about!  So I was actually looking for a new face power to powder my face with after I finish with foundation.  This product intrigued me because it was supposed to give a nice luminous glow to your skin, and I thought, "Well I do want luminous, glowy skin" and because winter is almost upon us, I thought this might be a cool product to try.

The first time that I tried it, I actually did notice that it made my skin look pretty luminous.  Almost like you have a light highlighter all over your face.  It is quite pigmented and a little goes a long way but THAT GLOW THO.
That glow tho!
I think that this powder would look great over makeup or just by itself.  It is such an easy way to give yourself a nice glow with very little effort.  I also think that the darker shades would make such a nice glowy bronzer to your face and it would look LOVELY in the summer when I have a bit of a tan.

Overall, I think that this a nice, inexpensive option for a powder to achieve a glowy,  highlighted face and I am pretty impressed with it so far!

Have you ever tried any NYX products?  What are your favorite ones?

Heya everyone!

This past weekend my boyfriend and I made the 2 hour Journey from Minneapolis to Duluth, MN to visit Bentleyville.

If you don't know what Bentleyville is, it is the largest outdoor light show in America and it is something that we just have to do every year now that it is officially December.  It makes me feel SO festive! 🎄

Giant Christmas Tree!  Every 10 minutes or so, there would be a light show synchronized to Christmas music.  It was magical!

The volunteers were kindly handing out free hot chocolate!
It was such a perfect weekend to walk around Bentleyville because it actually wasn't that cold out and we got there early enough so we didn't have to wait in to much of a line.

There was also an area where you could buy s'more materials (chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers) and there were a lot of fires to roast them marshmallows by (while also staying warm!) . You could also wait in line to see Mrs. Claus and of course the big man himself, Santa Claus.  But we really didn't want to wait in those lines.

If you ever find yourself in the Duluth area during the month of December, make a trip to Bentleyville!  Located in Bayfront Festival Park from November 17th thru December 26th.  Open 5pm - 9pm Sunday - Thursday, and 5-10pm Friday - Saturday.

Hey everyone!
Another review here on the blog!

Today I am going to be taking a look at Shea Moisture Daily Hydration Overnight Face Oil.
I picked this product up at Target a couple of weeks ago.  I was looking to get a new face serum to try after my trusty Lancôme Youth Activating Serum ran out (and I was looking for something a little more cost effective...) . At Target, this product was on sale for $5.49! Crazy cheap compared to my Lancôme serum.
I appreciate how it is for overnight use, but I think it would be great for the upcoming dry wintry mornings.  After just one night of using it, I awoke to soft, hydrated, and refreshed skin.  I have also used it a few times in the mornings and it was great to help brighten and hydrate my skin to be more dewy and youthful.  Overall it is a great product and because you only need a little that can go a long way, it should last a while!  I also really love the little dropper and it makes getting the product out of the bottle a little easier.

Hey everyone!  Surprise!!  Meet the two new additions to our family:  Nemo and Mocha.

The one on the left is Nemo and the one on the right is Mocha.  We adopted them (#AdoptDontshop) from Animal Allies up in Duluth, MN.  They are tabby kitten sisters from the same litter, and as soon as my mom held them at the animal shelter, she knew she wanted to pick them up and add them to the family.

It's only been 2 weeks since we picked them up, but I already love them SO much.  I bought them a little bed, a cat tree, and a plethora or cat toys.  They have SOO many cat toys.  They already have my parent's wrapped around their little fingers (err..paws).

Anyways, here's a little kitten slideshow of pictures that I have taken over the last several days (I mean look at their cute little faces)

Hey everyone!  My boyfriend and I recently booked a little staycation in our hometown of Minneapolis.  Sometimes it's nice to "get away" even if it's only 30 minutes away.  There are so many things to do in downtown Minneapolis that we are always finding new places to go and new food to try.  I wanted to check out a new hotel that we had never stayed at before.  I checked out some reviews on and TripAdvisor to find some nice, romantic ones (that also don't break the budget...), while also being really cool and modern.  I stumbled upon Hewing Hotel in the list of potential candidates, and after taking a browse through their website, it looked like exactly what we were looking for.

The hotel is actually a renovated warehouse built in 1987.  The hotel's name is inspired by the giant pine beams that are everywhere in the interior of the hotel.  The beams were logged in Minnesota and floated down the Mississippi river to the mills just down the road. Even in our own hotel room there was a really cool pine beam next to the bed that made it feel really rustic.  Hewing Hotel also features Tullibee:  A unique North Loop restaurant and bar inspired by Minnesota's lakes and woods.  As such, the menu is strongly influenced by Scandinavian cooking.  The hotel also features a 24 hour fitness center, a year-round rooftop bar, sauna, and spa pool.

The lobby was equally as extravagant and warm and cozy with a roaring fire in the fireplace.

Our hotel room!  You can see the pine beam at the base of the bed - very cool!

We wondered out to Red Cow in Minneapolis for a bite to eat, but I really wanted to head back so we could relax on the big, comfy KING sized SERTA mattress and under the cozy duvet.  And relax we did!  I think we didn't even leave the bed the entire rest of the night.
I was so sad to check out the next morning because it was such a nice hotel and we just had the best, most relaxing time.  I can't wait until our next staycation because this place will definitely be on my list of places to go!

Thanks Hewing Hotel for your lovely hospitality!
