Hey everyone!  Emily here!  I recently celebrated my one year anniversary with my boyfriend.  We decided to take weekend trip away to the Duluth, MN and the North Shore as a little way to celebrate with each other.  We were both really excited to get away because we are in a Long Distance relationship so it makes these little weekend trips even more special.

On the Saturday, we jumped in the car with my trusty camera (and two Caribou hot drinks) and headed up the North Shore with Split Rock Lighthouse as the end destination.  The drive up there was beautiful with all of the fall colors and it was just the most glorious day: sun and blue skies as far as the eye could see.

Here are some of the pictures I took from that little adventure:

I also talk about it in a recent video, if you want to check it out! Weekend Trip to the North Shore Video

It was definitely a time that I will never forget.  What is one of your favorite places to visit? :)

Talk soon x

BOO!  I just wanted to quickly pop on over here to wish you a happy Halloween!  I hope your day is full of sweets, and treats but no tricks, pumpkins, and hot chocolate.  I'm spending it relaxing on the couch after a long gym session and so my legs feel like jelly right now.

Eat some chocolate for me!

Talk to you soon x

Hey everyone!  I hope you are having a lovely week so far!

Last weekend, I experienced a first in my life....attending a professional football game.  This might not seem like a big deal, but coming from a place that LOVES their sports team.  One thing that you should know about Minnesotans is that we love our Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Wild but are consistently disappointed with them.  I have never been to a professional football game before, and my boyfriend and I's first year anniversary just happened so tickets to the football game was my anniversary present to him.

We headed to the game bright and early to get there before the huge crowds got too big.  But let me just say, as soon as we got on the light rail, it was PACKED.  Like "shoulder to shoulder cramped" packed.  As soon as we got there, it was already busy so we decided to just head in before the lines got any longer.

The view from our seats!

My boyfriend and I enjoying ourselves at the game :)

Despite the many, MANY drunk and rowdy people and losing my voice from screaming, the Vikings won and we had such a good time!

What are you up to this weekend?

Talk to you soon! xx

FIRST IMPRESSIONS | Olay Foaming Whip Body Wash

Hey there!  It's about time for another FIRST IMPRESSIONS post!

Today I am going to be looking at the Olay Foaming Whip Body Wash.  I was perusing down the aisles of Target looking for new beauty goodies to try and I came across this product and I had remembered seeing a commercial about it and I was very curious so I grabbed it and placed it in my shopping cart and never looked back.  Okay, that may be a little dramatic but I actually didn't look back because I went straight to the checkout lane afterwards.

I decided to use the body wash for my shower that night.  The first thing I noticed about it was that it comes in a solid container with a plastic lid and a whipped-cream type top where the product comes out (I'm not really sure of the word, so that is the only thing I can think of.) . It is pretty good quality - I am surprised because I have broken several types of those tops from basically doing nothing. So that was a good start!

Then when I started my shower, I sprayed some of the product into my hand.  It is a nice foamy, white consistency and it smells nice and clean.  It lathers really well and washes off easily without making my skin feel greasy or filmy that some other body washes do.  And my skin felt lovely afterwards!  I think that this product was well worth it and I would definitely repurchase when I run out of it.

What are your thoughts?  What is your favorite body wash?

How I Became a Project Manager | VIDEO

Hey there!

Welcome!  Come on in, take off your shoes, grab a beverage and some snacks and cuddle up in a blanket and get cozy!  Today I am discussing simple ways to add a Fall touch to your home.  As someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of time and money on decorating, I wanted to share with you some ways that I personally decorate for the fall season.  Enjoy!

1. Light a pumpkin or apple scented candle
2. Scatter mini pumpkins in various places around your home (you can pick them up at your local grocery store - white and orange ones give your home a nice autumnal feel)
3. Hang a fall dish towel on the oven handle
4. Add a cozy throw blanket to a couch or bed (It can be plaid, fall colors, fuzzy, etc)
5. Toss an autumnal pillow on a couch or chair to add a pop of color
6. Hang an autumn wreath on your front door
7. Add a fall kitchen rug or front door mat to add a cozy, homey touch
8. Buy a couple of medium - large pumpkins to place on your front steps or balcony
9. Fill a large vase with fall-colored flowers as a centerpiece on your table or kitchen island
10. Display cute fall related pictures or artwork on your walls or sitting on a shelf

Do you decorate for Fall?  What is your favorite way to celebrate the changing season?

Happy Fall!

Hey everyone!  Happy Sunday!

I just got back from a nice, relaxing weekend up at my parent's house.  My boyfriend was coming back from a trip to Connecticut for work, so I was all by myself this weekend.  So instead of staying home alone, my mom invited to come back and stay in my old bedroom for the weekend.  On Friday, as soon as I got home from work, I quickly packed up my suitcase with enough clothes for two days, and then packed up the car and headed out.  Traffic was bad as usual, but I'm happy I got going when I did because it would've gotten much worse if I would have waited any longer!

I finally pulled into my parent's driveway and my dad was outside fixing up the front door.  Later, my mom came home from work and brought pizza with her...YUM!  Then we went for a walk around the neighborhood.  And I am sure glad I packed a sweatshirt because it was COLD out.  It is definitely not summer anymore.  I was pretty tired, so I called it an early night.

We got up nice and early to get ready to head out to the apple orchard.  Normally we go to Pine Tree Apple Orchard (which is still my favorite), but we decided to try out Aamodt's Apple Orchard in Stillwater, MN.  I brought my camera and took a couple of pictures.

I bought some apples to make apple crisp later this week (I'll have to make a recipe blog post!), and some apple cinnamon muffins which were DELICIOUS!

Then, we headed to visit a couple of Parade of Homes houses.  If you are unfamiliar with it, during Parade of Homes, you can visit new houses to see how they are designed, and a lot of times they are really, REALLY nice and expensive houses.  Being a HUGE fan of interior decorating and HGTV, I love the time of year when Parade of Homes is happening.  We visited 5 different brand new homes, and it made me excited to maybe buy my own house one day!  I also really enjoy looking at the huge kitchens and master bathrooms - so fancy!

Then we came home, and my dad grilled some burgers and we had a salad on the side - it was delicious!!!
After dinner, my mom wanted to put a movie on, and she was surfing the channels to find Fiddle on the Roof on, so she made the executive decision to watch that.  I didn't realize that the run time of that movie was 3 hours and 1 minute, so that basically took us to bed time.

Breakfast was the apple cinnamon muffins I bought at the apple orchard.  Then I packed up and headed back to my apartment.  So this afternoon has consisted of errands/chores: getting gas in my car, running to Target for a couple of groceries, doing loads of laundry, sweeping/mopping the kitchen floors, and putting out my Fall decorations.  I even found time to head to the gym earlier this afternoon.  Now I have a face mask and a hair mask on, and I am writing this blog post with Bob's Burgers on TV, sipping a hot chocolate with a pumpkin scented candle burning in the kitchen.  It smells SOOOO good!

What a nice weekend!

What have you been up to this weekend? ☺️

Hey there!
Just last week it was a steamy 90 degree F in good ol' Minnesota, and this weekend marks the official start of Fall.  Ahhh my favorite season.  Sweater weather, cozy blankets, flannel, hot cocoa,  Halloween, football, leaves changing color, pumpkin patches, apple orchards.  I love it ALL.

Here's some Fall nature appreciation.  I hope you enjoy it as much as me!

What's your favorite part of Fall?

Let Me Introduce Myself...| NEW BLOG

Hey there!

You may have noticed that there have been a few changes since the last time you visited here...well you would be right!  What used to be Emskeeso. has morphed into Emily Ciernia.  This has been a result of thinking and reflecting about the future of this blog and other future endeavors, and I have decided that I wanted to change the site to reflect my whole self ( not just as Emskeeso, but as Emily).  I think that this is a good time to kind of close the Emskeeso chapter and move forward into the next chapter as myself....

Hi I'm Emily!

I am 24 years old and currently live in Minneapolis, MN.  I love living in Minnesota!  The fall time, the outdoor activities, the food, the people (and I can't forget my favorite ALL TIME coffee place @CaribouCoffee!!)

I graduate college with a degree in computer science.  I originally started out as a degree in biology, but quickly followed my passion for technology and entered a career in technology.  I am currently working as an IT Project Manager.  I am an avid learner, and am always looking for opportunities to grow professionally and individually.

I have also cultivated a passion for photography.  I have been taking photos on my phone and then I used my first paycheck on a camera to start learning how to create more creative photos.  I am definitely not the greatest or anything, but I really enjoy getting to be creative and sharing my passion with whoever is willing to listen.  If you would like, check out my instagram page @emilyciernia to see more :)

I am going to continue to use this place to talk about things that interest me, which could include a wide array of topics!

I hope you catch up with you again soon :)

Hey guys!

If you've been following me for the past couple of months, you'll know that I recently moved into a new apartment.  And with moving comes home decor and decorating - which I absolutely LOVE!

I thought I would show you a couple of the things that I have brought into my new home to make it feel more homey, and maybe give you some idea, but also give you a little look into my home :)

One of my FAVORITE candle scents from Bath and Body Works "Midnight Blue Citrus".  Lighting a candle always make my home feel a little more cozy and homey.
I actually got this cutting board as a gift from my boyfriend; I got the Minnesota shaped one and he got the North Dakota shaped one.  Although his is a little more practical to cut things on....

I bought this off of Amazon as a spoon rest to put on my stove.  It's adorable!

On my TV stand, I like to keep random knick-knacks that I've collected over the years.  These include sand from Oceanside California, a rock from the Grand Canyon, a snow globe from Switzerland, and a random hedgehog ornament that I picked up at a thrift shop YEARS ago.

I bought this cute little guy off of Amazon with full attention of planting a little succulent in the top of his head, and I hopefully eventually will, but for right now, he is just sitting on top of my TV stand, silently judging me.  I am Groot!

In the corner by the patio door, I have my plant children:  2 Bonsais and a Money Tree.  I am actually pretty proud that they are still alive and thriving #greenthumb

A close up of one of my Bonsai trees.

In the bathroom, there is a cute little corner of the counter where I keep all of my favorite every day skin care products (from left to right): Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate, Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque, NIOD Flavanone Mud, Lancôme Energie De Vie Liquid Care Moisturizer, Lancôme Advanced Génefique, Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm

Those are a couple of my favorite bits in my new home!  I would absolutely LOVE if you shared with me a couple of your favorite parts of your home with us!  Do you have any knick knacks that mean a lot to you?  Or a favorite keepsake item?  Let us know in the comments below, and also send it to me on twitter and instagram.  Both @emilyciernia :)

Wanderlust | Banff National Park

I had made a post MONTHS ago talking about how I really wanted to go to Tokyo (still haven't made it there...hopefully eventually!), but then I knew that there are a ton of other places I wanted to go, and so I thought I would bring back my 'Wanderlust' series.  Today I am going to be talking about....Banff National Park!

Happy Sunday all!

I was just spending my relaxing afternoon scrolling through Instagram and Facebook, and I discovered that today is World Photography Day 2018.  And it made me excited because photography has become such a huge part of my life, and I appreciate it and its ability to make me express my creativity,  So I thought, to celebrate World Photography Day, I would share with you, some of my favorite photos I have taken over the past year or two that I am really proud of :)

Do you have a favorite photo that you have taken?  Please share it with me on twitter and instagram @emilyciernia and #WorldPhotographyDay
